Nice setup so far! Can't wait to see your results on the 16gs. Did you do the gauge swap yourself or did GTM do that for you?

I'm in SD also so we need to meet up when you get the car back from GTM so that you can take me for a boosted test drive.

GTM did the gauge swap. It's quite involved since the whole dash has to come out. Leave that to the pros!

Definitely :driving:

Did you opt for internal wastegates?

I believe mine will have the new header design that uses external wastegates.

iWG are more than sufficient for 16g, are there any benefit for eWG ?

future370zzz 03-24-2013 06:31 PM

Where did you find the Defi imperial BF gauges in 52mm?

Was told by Rallysport that Defi discontinued the BF and moved to the Advanced BF gauges that are only offered in 60mm and metric only.

I guess I could go metric but what is 0.7 bar =? Psi would rather have in psi. Oil temp same issue. Does 60mm work in stock pods?

You are correct, but the larger flow-level of an EWG will always give better control in theory. Plus, my car is meant to be the tester for the new kit so they are outfitting with lots of goodies.

GTM got the gauges for me. I don't think there is any issue finding them as I still see them on the web. I got the Racer gauges, not the BF. No control unit.

I had metric on my STi and I got used to it, but definitely wished I had of gone with imperial. 2 bar doesn't look as cool as 29 PSI!

1 bar = 14.5 PSI

Ok, it says Bf gauges in your 1st post. Makes sense now and saves me some $$

Whoops. Typo. Fixed it, thanks. Had BF in my old car.

Nope. Waiting on some new parts to come in. Definitely taking longer than expected, but better done right than quickly.

370zrider 08-25-2013 03:21 PM

Nix, will you be upgrading your radiator for your TT setup?

Yep, doing a full cooling system overhaul.

wagz 09-02-2013 11:10 PM

Could you please do an extensive write up of your impressions post install. I would really like to know how it feels to drive this car with this kit. Also - what sort of cooling system overhaul did you have to do?

Was the stock clutch and flywheel replaced at this time?

Thank you!

Of course! I will provide tons of feedback and impressions once it is all said and done. As for the cooling system upgrades, I am doing the full GTM race radiator / SPAL fan setup, and I am using their built-in secondary core for my integrated oil cooler.

His car blew up, he had GTM put a built motor in and he seems very satisfied with the whole experience.

Boosted Performance 03-11-2014 12:20 PM

You are in good hands now, and those guys will take good care of you.

Good luck with the rest of the build.

SS_Firehawk 03-11-2014 12:54 PM

I'm happy and sorry for you at the same time. It's hard to fathom it still being unfinished that far in. I'm happy though you finally have a way forward with F.I. and Specialty Z. Did any other mods make it in the car before you pulled out?

If GTM ever gets this kit out the door, they need some serious damage control to clean up their rep. Consistency is generally considered a good thing, but consistently late on everything is just bad practice. If they communicate and overestimate timelines, it wouldn't be nearly as bad. Instead they give a sweet sounding timeline that leads to dissapointment.

I really like that word... "Disappoint": To fail to meet the expectations, hope, or standards of; let down. It's not the turbo kit that's a disappointment, it's GTM's customer service.

I'm excited for you man.

:iagree: the best remedy I found was seb@specialty :icon18: the updates are fantastic and the build just progresses. His timelines are accurate and the work is impeccable. Going with the FI kit is also a major win

ANMVQ 04-11-2014 01:36 PM

Damn man I was reading this backwards, LOL an was like NO WAY was your car still there. Granted I'm don't follow the FI stuff that close anymore since I went boom but WOW, Glad their taking care of you, Pics made me jealous again :/

When you pulled your car from GTM, that was also about the time they stopped communicating at all on this forum. Coincidence?

I think they actually stopped a few weeks before I pulled my car.
