Day 5 update:

The BOV's and MAF sensor housing are now welded in place:

The turbo also arrived today, and now I am going to start working on the exhaust side of things. I made a quick little bracket to support the turbo in place while the fabrication of the exhaust piping is taking place.

I take it this design will work the same with auto and manual transmissions? Such as clearances?

I have asked this question already, and the answer is no. It will not fit with auto

Deadman 04-09-2012 05:42 PM

wow looks like when you're done with this it's going to be a great product... Ease of install, quality work, and some good power ;) Looking good man!

Those are some of the driving forces behind this project. If one wanted to go back to stock, it would take a day to remove the kit, put the stock intakes back in, install the cats and call it a day. You would never be able to tell the car had a turbo kit on.

I think ost would agree that if you can install a set of test pipes on this car, you can also install this kit.

sfearl1 04-09-2012 06:30 PM

will the uprev that comes w/ the kit already have a map pre-loaded for a stock + turbo configuration?

mikey1600 04-09-2012 06:39 PM

just when I thought I had made up my mind about going supercharger due to ease of installation/remove back to stock incase I need to in future for sale etc.. this pops up ;)

will this be compatible with RHD? also will you be shipping kits overseas?

Yes it will come with a base map, but as with any other system it is to get you to a pro tuner. Every car is different, different fuels, different elevations, exhaust systems..ect. It is by no means a map that one should go and do a bunch of WOT runs.

This will be much easier to install than any s/c kit, and there are not slipping belts to worry about. Not to mention the torque.

I have no idea if this kit would fit a RHD. You Aussies need to figure things out and start driving on the right side of the road...:).

Is the started on the left side or the right side of the engine?

hahaha yeah yeah...

not sure will have to check, pretty sure everything is the same place for motor, just steering components on other side obviously, when you get closer with a completed kit, can provide some photo's from above/below the car if it will help, I'll check where all your piping runs as well and see if it could collide with anything.

Cheers for the answer, guess we will wait and see for now :)

I think the best thing about this set up.

I really like the sounds of this.

theaudir8fan 04-09-2012 08:41 PM

it's so nice to see someone who is building a complete kit that is doing daily updates and keeping everyone in the loop of progress and issues. Can't wait to see the beautiful welds when the exhaust pipes are being made

Mkai0 04-09-2012 09:30 PM

Too bad this kit will not fit an auto. If you ever made one for an auto I would seriously consider swapping out my supercharger for this.

Same here, I call dibs on lending my car for R&D work on G with 5AT :happydance:

lol, you called it first! I'm just glad that we may have another option.

Elysium 04-10-2012 08:30 AM

I would definitely consider replacing my supercharger kit for this as well.

Deadman 04-10-2012 08:43 AM

Ya.. dibs 2nd on list when we get that list going ;) ha

wheee! 04-10-2012 09:05 AM

hmmm... time to become Sasha's broker and manage the buy list!

erkthejerk73 04-10-2012 12:24 PM

lots of interest in the kit Sasha, maybe i will sell someone my kit for a huge markup.... oh wait im not a vendor on this site....

Sasha for President!

memorylasts 04-10-2012 12:34 PM

Sasha - how long do you keep the piping to build kits? Is it a one time buy in? Or in 3-6 months will you be able to make on with out the car?

I believe he will make a jig so that he can reproduce the kits without having to have a car on site.

Correct.

I am now an expert at making jigs as well. This is how the mid mount kits are built.

What I am doing now is the hard part, figuring out how thing will be routed and what will work best. Once this stage is done I can proceed to the jigs. I plan on making two kit from this car. One will of course go with the car/customer and the other I will keep. The one kit that stays behind will be used to build the jigs. That way these will all fit perfect every time, on any M/T 370z.

At this point I plan on taking your moneys..:hello:

erkthejerk73 04-10-2012 01:15 PM

wish i had a 3d printer just to make a copy of this and sell to people! lol

Sub'd

I may have missed something here, but what will protect from water and the filter.

Thats a good point.. The intake so low to the ground..

theaudir8fan 04-10-2012 10:18 PM

well the GTM stage 2 SC places the filter at a very similar location, it actually stays pretty clean in that area, just don't run deep puddles.

memorylasts 04-10-2012 10:57 PM

Yeah ^^ what he said...

I was going to look around though and see what else I could find but at the same time this is.the same method Sasha has used on his own 350Z along with many others. It might need more cleaning then not...but it is something I am willing to do.

No issues at all. Unless you are going deep sea fishing with it, there is nothing to worry about. I have had my air filter in that location for about three years now. Remember, a lot of people spray water (water/meth injection) in to the engine on purpose..:).

zguynate 04-10-2012 11:36 PM

Word. Even if a little does get in it has to go through the hot turbo and up through the intercooler first. Which by then any small amount of water will be vaporized. Anything more than that you need to reevaluate your driving conditions.

They typically try to do that after the MAF's :icon17:

Not necessarily. Ideally you want to inject it before the FMIC and after with very small jets vs. one large before the TB. The best water injection setups come with 3-4 nozzles, which are placed throughout the entire cooling system.

O&G 04-11-2012 09:21 AM

I have a similar setup to what Boosted is building and I have No issues with the filter location. Intake temps are great and I don't drive through puddles. Not a big deal.

O&G 04-11-2012 09:27 AM

Actually if you use a four nozzle setup, 2 small nozzles in front of the Maf and the larger nozzle after the maf you can trick the ecu into keeping desired timing. Basically tricking it with the intake temp change. 30-40 whp just off the smaller nozzles Pre-maf. Gtm has done similar setups on their customer cars.
