The 7AT is technically rated (by the transmission mfg, Jatco) for 295 ft-lbs at the back of the engine. Most supercharger kits will go a bit past that into the low 300's. It might last a while anyways, but personally I'd be looking to upgrade or replace the 7AT with any serious SC project if you want longevity.
There's another version of our 7AT that Nissan uses in the FX50/QX56 that's rated for 443 ft-lbs. IMHO, finding one of these out of a wrecked vehicle (and being the first to try out the swap, re: ECU compatibility and all that jazz) might be cheaper than getting the existing one's internals upgraded. The Jatco part numbers are JR710E and JR711E for the two different versions. It's also possible that Jatco might sell a cheap kit with just the internal component changes to upgrade from 710 to 711, who knows. I don't think anyone's really explored this direction fully. |
