Off boost, lower CR pistons may feel a bit anemic by comparison, but if they are forged and lighter than OEM, they may make the engine feel more -- rather than less -- responsive, if with a bit less grunt.

Depends how much weight is saved and exactly how high in the rev range before any appreciable boost is built.
