370Z TT and WOT AFR

I was curious to see what other 370z TT are getting at WOT and what they consider safe AFR on these cars. Going in for a retune tomorrow.

You should probably consult Sam on this. He knows his TT kit more than anyone.

I have been trying to see what members on here are running but many of the dynos show no AFR just the power they made.

I am running a pretty safe WOT AFR (10.4) and its got to the point where it is too safe.

Hmmm...how are you getting your AFR numbers? Via UpRev? Standalone Wide band? Dyno wideband?

Quote from the installation manual:

"If the correction factors are acceptable, perform another log at part throttle and low boost to verify that
the Air/Fuel ratios are acceptable. At low load %, part throttle and no boost, Air/Fuel ratios should be
near 14. At higher load % and low boost (0 ‐ 2psi) conditions, Air/Fuel ratios should be in the 10.5 to
11.0 range according to the logs. Note that the factory wideband oxygen sensors read approximately 1
point richer than actual Air/Fuel ratios in the richer regions (<13 AFR)."

Still has the flare from 3-4. I am suspecting low fluid but I see no leak anywhere or any evidence of one.

The torque app for android reads AFR from ECU. Reads both commanded and measured.

It allows me to datalog. I noticed my fuel mileage going to **** and also noticed my rear bumper pretty much stained.

To be honest, when measuring something as critical as AFR, I would strongly urge you to consider something with known good accuracy. A standalone wideband setup like AEM, Innovate or something along those lines.

I'm not knocking your app, I'm just concerned that it may not be giving you and us an accurate picture of what's going on. Is 10.4 on the safe side, yes, but it shouldn't make your bumper black either.

Do you know if you got a 91 octane tune from Sam or a 93 octane tune from him?

Tune from local UPrev tuner in South Florida.

I only run 93 octane . I shall see what happens tommorrow.

I figured the app pulls the data straight from ecu pids so it is showing me what ecu sees.

I hate having gauges in the car but I will look into what options I have for standalone widebands.

Thanks Mike!

I'm happy to help.

Yeah, ok, that makes sense...I know Sam is pretty conservative on his tunes, but 10.4 seemed a bit much...even when reading off the factory widebands.

Tomorrow when you go see your tuner, try to get a dyno graph with AFR readout. Then, compare those numbers to the numbers you're getting from your logger to get an idea of the offset between your data and the dyno's wideband...at least until you get a standalone AFR gauge...if you're concerned about it.

Also, since you are running 93 octane, you can actually run a little leaner than you would on 91.

10.4:1 is rather conservative.. if your readings are accurate. At the same time, that is the type of AF you will find under WOT in most factory turbo cars. It gives you a little margin for a bad tank of gas or anything like that... If I was selling a turn key turbo system for these cars, I would probably want to package the tune with a AF around there... these engines have no problem making more power than the stock internals can handle at pretty dang low boost, i dont think a little rich AF is going to hold anyone back from reaching the max recommended power levels for the bottom end.

What would be a more ideal afr Phunk?

Im worried about cylinder washdown and oil disappearing.

I wouldnt worry much about washing out your cylinders if youre only running so rich under boost. IF you are running like that during cruise and idle and light throttle, sure... but if its just during WOT, I am not sure I would worry much about 10.4:1.

you could probably pull out a few tenths of a point, but i wouldnt wander too far from your prescribed tune from GTM unless you are very confident in your tuner
