Latest update: I just got off the phone with GTM. Smoking issue is FIXED. They ended up decreasing the oil restrictor size by .002 inch. Everything is looking good except for the boost creep, but they offered to let me take the car home for a few weeks to enjoy it. However, since I’ve been without my car for so long, I preferred they kept going to finish it up.

To really control boost creep, they want to change to a larger turbine housing to allow better response from the internal wastegates. This change is not expected to make much impact to the super fast spool-up they are getting now. On the outside, this should take no longer than 2 weeks, but they are shooting for earlier.
This was from one of GTM's earlier twin turbo builds. The boost creep only applies to internally wastegated setups, which is what I'm running. The .86 housing allows the exhaust gas to escape more readily to prevent boost creep. When I was talking to Sam prior to my turbo purchase, I vaguely remember that he recommended going with the stage 2 since im running internal wastegates.

Makes sense, I believe it would happen at higher psi levels since more air is flowing?

Not related, what is the "GTR Turbo/Engine Gauges" on your signature?

Edit: I found it... that is awesomeee!! http://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-vi...peed-temp.html ..... I want...

modme, so its a carpc running dashcommand with a GTR skin? Where are you getting the boost signal from?

Yup, that thread is outdated. I've upgraded to the 2010 navigation system with a high resolution screen. Dashcommand can read from PLX Device gauges. I have the PLX Boost, Oil temp, and EGT gauges. The rest of the parameters are obtained from OBD reader.

Ron 12-11-2011 12:36 PM

Where did you get the skin from? How does the PLX guage provide info to dashcommand, USB? Or is it reading directly from the PLX Boost / Vacuum
Sensor Module?

Who wants to buy my gauges? lol

modme 12-11-2011 12:38 PM

PLX gauges connect into a chain and end with a USB, but you have to purchase all of them separately. You can download the skin from dashcommand website, but you'll need to modify them for your needs.

Ron 12-11-2011 12:52 PM

Can I just purchase the boost gauge and connect it via usb to the carpc or do I have to have more than one gauge? AFR and Oil temp is already provided via OBDII so I only need a boost source.

So I would need:

carpc with touchscreen monitor
dashcommand + OBDLink
boost source (PLX gauge)

On the thread you mentioned a Scan converter, was this necessary bc you used the stock navi screen?

modme 12-11-2011 01:06 PM

From my experience, oil temp is not a parameter that OBDII readers can pick up. That might've changed since I did my install 2 years ago. You can double check that using OBDlink and dashcommand to see if it can find the oil temp readout.

You can hook up just one 1 sensor. You need the sensor and the iMFD SM to USB Adapter.

Depending on your screen model and whether you have navi, the method of connecting a carpc is different. If you plan to use an aftermarket screen, then you would not need the scan converter.

My camp 2 does not pick up oil temp just reading off the OBD, which is fine because the Z has a dedicated oil temp gauge.

Dashcommand on my iphone and Display out from Cydia through my HU.. wonder how fast it refreshes (Don't have the OBDLink to test) I can't listen to music or do anything else while its on though, nor can I control it from the screen, have to use the phone... Not the best option then, but it looks pretty cool haha
