I have never installed a turbo timer but I have installed more remote starters then I care to remember.
They do perform a similar function. With a remote start there is usually two ignition, one start and one accessory output. On a turbo timer there is no need for a start or accessory so that leaves the two ignition wires. If you use a multi meter I think you will find that one of your ignition outputs is hooked to the accessory circuit. I have also found that some new cars need more two ignition wires that require power in order to keep it running.
