I am getting very excited about this setup. Just need to start saving up the pennies now.

The 370Z has some sort of OEM traction control, correct? So, other than launch control, can you share a little bit more about what this system offers above and beyond what the car has baked-in? Not questioning the system, merely curious.

stock traction control cant handle the additional power, its basically useless with FI. The racelogic unit is designed for high performance cars getting as much power to the road as it can by limiting only the power it needs to. It also allows the user to choose between multiple traction control levels based on preference and/or condition (wet track for example). These units are far more performance oriented than most factory traction controls.

prescott3656 06-02-2011 01:18 PM

From the racelogic website;

"The system works by monitoring the speed of all four wheels using the ABS system or specially fitted sensors. When wheel spin is detected the engine power is reduced, by cutting a single injector pulse, until grip is resumed. This occurs in a thousandth of a second, and appears to the driver as a slight misfire with no loss in acceleration.

Maximum acceleration is achieved by limiting the slip between the tyre and the road. The point at which a tyre is just beginning to slip against the road gives the maximum coefficient of friction value.

The idea of cutting fuel to an engine sets alarm bells ringing in engine builders, as they all know that running a lean combustion mode will elevate in-cylinder temperatures very rapidly. The denser the air/fuel charge, the more heat the lean burn can generate. Therefore it is vital that a fuel cut system will not cause a lean burn.

Racelogic Traction Control prevents lean burn by removing 100% of the pulsed fuel delivery – essentially the affected cylinder takes a gulp of fresh air; the in-cylinder temperature remains virtually unaffected.

Prolonged fuel cut on one particular cylinder would cause scavenging of the petrol lining the inlet tracts, and when the next full fuel pulse arrived, it would be partially reduced in quantity by the re-wetting of these tracts. RL Traction Control rotates cylinder cutting to prevent this situation from occurring."

Fascinating, thanks. Does this mean the stock traction control has to be disengaged every time you start the car?

prescott3656 06-02-2011 01:32 PM

I am under the impression that this will replace the stock system all together. I don't know if the stock traction control button will have any use afterwards. The RaceLogic system has its own digital controller.

KaienZ34 06-02-2011 01:38 PM

Stock traction control will do nothing.

RCZ 06-02-2011 05:23 PM

Thats interesting...would never get it, but it sounds pretty cool.

Is there any different parts compared to the stg1 besides compressor ?

NewYorkJon34 06-02-2011 08:17 PM

How was the dyno session today?

Pretty sure the intake and mounting brackets have changed

KaienZ34 06-02-2011 08:54 PM

Intake? Hopefully one on each side like the TT kit.

TT kit requires 2 intakes for obvious reasons, for the supercharger to have an intake in each fender like the TT would require some very weird/uneven intake piping.

In thinking about this more, there must be a bit more to it than the stock traction control being "useless" with FI. All traction control systems share some of the same primary goals, such as stopping wheel spin to some degree based on some conditions being met (i.e. undesirable wheel spin). Both the stock traction control and the RaceLogic seek to prevent undesirable wheel spin. The differences must be in the sophistication of the sensing; the adjustability of the system (i.e. what constitutes undesirable wheel spin) and the method of reducing power once undesirable wheel spin has been detected. Regarding the first aspect, sensing, the stock system may actually be more sophisticated than the RaceLogic if it includes input for yaw angle, steering angle, lateral gs, etc, in addition to wheel speed sensors, like other high-end performance cars. My limited understanding of the RaceLogic system is that it just uses the ABS wheel speed sensors as an input. As to the second aspect, adjustability, it sounds like the RaceLogic is very adjustable whereas the stock system is on/off. Pint definitely goes to RaceLogic. Finally, as to the method of preventing wheel spin, it sounds like the RaceLogic system has a sophisticated system of cutting fuel. I am not sure how the stock system does it, it may pulse the brakes, it may cut fuel, it may do many different things and/or combinations of things. The export of all of this is that the stock traction control probably could be as good or better than the racelogic if it was tuneable, assuming they use similar methods of regaining traction.

I will have mine shortly. I then do a full report on it.
If this things launches my 7 AT @ 3800 to 4000 rpm at the drag strip.
Look out . Its going to go low 12's, way better than my 12.42 that i run now (2100 to 2200rpm = 1.855, 60 ft times )

If I purchase the stage 2 kit now, could I run it at say only 8 psi until there is a upgrade kit for the auto trans?

We have a lot of great stuff in the works like cooling system upgrades, N/A build program, a lot of cool stuff

I'm a little behind on my PM's, will check it out and get back to you .

Anything for us 7AT guys to make the Tranny worth being mated with your Stage 2 S/C?? :stirthepot:

Interested in NA builds. Like to see what these motors can do from basic to stroker.

Finally my traction contol is ready . It is being shipped to me as i type this.
Just spoke to Sam.
Launch control in the 1/4 mile set at 4200 rpm on my 7 AT.
I see a new low 1/4 mile time coming up here to the great white north.
Look out J naut , could be a new record soon for N/A.
