This is an awesome setup! I'd love one for my 370z, may have to talk to the local fab shops.

JB-370z 05-03-2011 12:23 PM

I wonder if the tuning will be easy or not.

Good luck with the build

Hey shawn are there any plans to make to start selling this kit?

Nope, I will never build the same setup twice, it's against my religion! :)

I'm about to order my gtm stage 1 supercharger hopefully tomorrow.

$6k? :gtfo2:

meh, most people could piece something together for 6k.

Awesome - upmost respect - when done, kit price from vendor please ;-)

Thanks, everyone

I can't believe the amount of interest this has gotten so far! If I didn't have Shawn under such tight time constraint for ZDayz, I could have let Shawn keep the car a bit longer to reproduce the piping. Fortunately for me, Shawn is doing his very best to meet my time constraints. Unfortunately for everyone else, this kit will not be reproduced.

I will be sure to post dyno graphs, quarter mile times, and the amount of fun I'm having :) I planned ahead and have some 275/35/18 BFG drag radials to help traction going down the 1/4 mile. I think I still hold the record for fastest stock block single turbo G35 and plan on owning that record for the 370Z with ease since the only evidence of an STS kit on a 370Z did a 12.5 @ 115mph.

Kastley85891 05-03-2011 01:14 PM

Still a chance of a secondary custom fab though huh??

Nice work - in for results

I'm not an advertiser here, not trying to sell anything, just answering questions and providing some input on my end of the setup :)

You'll never see a "kit" from me sold as parts to install. Fabbed on your car, one-off to the customers request, sure

I'm doing my best, I wasn't aware I was going to have to bust out the shoe horn to fit this stuff! lol

I won't, but I give it a year or so before someone does. Only reason it is taking so long is how poorly these motors respond to FI.

Z eliminator 05-03-2011 02:17 PM

Im going 12.421 @ 114.37 and the car is all motor with bolt ons. Your turbo should be quicker than that. Now when i put the stage 2 GTM SC. its going to be going 11.2 to 11.3's and its a 7 AT sports.

Ryan already has HKS exhaust, I'm redoing part of the midpipe to mate the 3" DP to the dual 2.5's

Looks like that turbo is giving your engine a big hug! Now wait to see what it gives you when you beat on her a bit, lol!

Red__Zed 05-03-2011 05:24 PM

That's some clean looking piping. Nice work.

Flyboy 05-03-2011 05:27 PM

still able to keep A/C?

98intrigue 05-03-2011 05:34 PM

Haha, you guys crack me up.

Regarding price, it's a custom one-off build...this isn't a poorly pieced together kit. Just because it's only one turbo, don't let the power delivery/price fool you. I could have done an off the shelf kit for a comparable price, but I like being original and I like the power delivery of a single turbo. Regarding dyno numbers, I don't want to speculate ;) BUT I don't see why this kit shouldn't make some good power:driving:

Shawn, your welds cease to amaze me! If I didn't love the look of the HKS exhaust, I'd easily ask you to fab me up an exhaust, too.

weiboy718 05-03-2011 05:46 PM

Sick...welds looks very nice and I'm itching for turbo power LOL

If you go this route and it looks anything like the Powerhouse Amuse, I will buy it too! I really want to do a Y pipe with my TT z. It seems to be working out great for the GTR plus a Y pipe gives the best sound in my op.

Weld job is nuts....

Didn't read

What size turbo? This should be sweet awesome

Kastley85891 05-03-2011 06:20 PM

Class A welds, beautiful, how you gonna deal with the WG dump? custom undertray?
What spring pressure and is it a 38mm?

wishihadnav 05-03-2011 06:57 PM

wow very nice!

kellyefields 05-03-2011 07:20 PM

This looks to be an interesting build. How much boost are you planning on this setup? excuse me if I missed it.

xbigb4ller69z 05-03-2011 07:51 PM

hey, build is looking good... whoever is fabricating the exhaust manifold, pipes, housing, etc is doing a hell of a job. I know it's a pain in the beginning putting everything together, but it will pay off at the end.... trust me. What psi are you going to be running?

As far as tuning, you're going to the right place. I never got to show you my TT z, but it was crazyyyy fast, ask Chris lol.

P.S. You might want to consider cutting up your front bumper so that the turbo can get some air? one of those bumper scoops? because that turbo is being blocked completely...

Thanks Ryan, as many think otherwise, custom costs more than something from the shelf typically. Why people think it should be less is beyond me, my 3 month waiting list for such a build supports my end of the theory though :)

Thank you as well, appreciate everyone's kind words regarding the fab work! Wastegate is a Tial MVR (replaced the Tial 44). The undertray will be returning, the wastegate dump extends just beyond it

Ryan has said he's shooting for 500whp, I think that's a little conservative, 550whp should be good though @ 20-22psi :driving:

Appreciate your love for my fab! I thought my Roadster was tight on space in certain places, the Z is tight EVERYWHERE! Regardless, I am very persistant and when I set my mind to something it will be done despite what obstacles are in my way!

Thank you everyone for your comments and input, I appreciate everyone's comments good or bad!

Reality 05-03-2011 09:01 PM

Piping looks great.. welds look top notch.
-Are you considering some sort protection from the heat of the turbo? (ie: turbo blanket, piping wrap?) The turbo location will add a huge engine "bling" factor, but will also def introduce intense heat.
-What EMS? or are you going with an UPREV tune?

Off topic: Your M's engine bay look sooo clean! Great job!

Brazilbro 05-03-2011 09:07 PM

:iagree:

I'm more worried of the downpipe getting hot and melting a belt or sensor or wire. Are you going to heat wrap the downpipe?
Love the build.. I was looking for someone to fab a kit like this when I first got the car but had no luck so went with the TT's. Hopefully your build will open the door for others that have been wanting a simpler turbo set up.. Looks like it will be alot easyer to maintain.:tiphat:

G37sHKS 05-03-2011 09:16 PM

So whats the benefits between Single and Twin turbo besides cost?

does single turbo deliver the power quicker? etc? etc...

jnaut 05-03-2011 10:55 PM

Ryan...... Awesome!!!
