Will a SC 370Z be able to compete with a stock C6 Z06

I'm wanting to Go GTM SC, but for the money I would like to know how my car would stack against a C6 Z06. I know a modded Z06 would rape all, but what about a stock C6 Z06. does a SC 370z have a chance?

This question has me on the line as to whether or not i should go SC.

you should be able to hang with it vs a stock z06. while they are 505hp they end up only putting down around 400 to the wheels. So a GTM SC kit would put you there if not a lil higher. their lighter + more torques too but their geared longer too. so hrmm just comes down to who's driving i'd think based on that.

Why are you only concerned about a Z06? If you like the 370 - get it, put on what you want. Why do so many people on this site worry about what OTHER people think?

^really? I thought I read somewhere that they're very underrated and some puts down 480 - 500rwhp stock on a Dynojet. Not sure if I remember correctly though. But they sure are fast.

Even at the same whp level, you have to keep in mind that in a Z, you shift more than in a Z06. Gearing in the Z06 is A LOT taller.

A SC 370z can beat a C5 Z06, but a C6 Z06 would edge out the 370z SC a bit.
Power they will end up competing almost together, but the Z06 weights less than a 370z stock and then you add in the weight of a SC.

z06

Flyboy 12-27-2010 01:13 PM

curb weight

Z06 = 3175
370 = 3250

Not a huge difference there.

I love my Z and I could have bought a z06 for a little more than I payed for my Z, so that's not the issue..

I'm just wondering how close they would be running head up.

No

wishihadnav 12-27-2010 03:17 PM

id probably say no as well..too much torque in the vette.

Brazilbro 12-27-2010 03:38 PM

Winner go's to the one with better tires :eekdance:

NO can't compete.
My co-worker has a 2009 Z06. What an animal. It's amazing. No way can the z compete, it would have to be on a big diet, with major tire and suspension mods.

Suspension, the Z06 puts the power down and powers out of corners better. In a straight line the gearing is much longer, that car just pulls and pulls.

maybe i should go race one when i get my car back and put an end to this:icon17:

You would lose. On the strip, you will begin to lose rite after 1st. our 6spd would PROBABLY make up for the TQ/HP difference at the launch but other then that I would guess you see nothing but there a**. At a road course you may be able to hang a little unless the z06 driver knows what he is doing.

Do what you want to do, if you want to SC/TT then go ahead and do it. Although SC expansion isnt as large as TT, you can still expand some. LSD, 4.08, flywheel, etc...there are plenty of supporting mods that are not really all that much money. Shoot, if you mainly participate at the strip i say :

SC
2 lightwieght wheels (volk ce28n =)
LSD (probably OS Giken)
nitto 555R (on the seperate wheels, or your choice of drag radials).

Don't get discouraged though, its a build and it dosent happen over night :)

yep, no way it can keep up. Its not just weight and power, but low end torque and gearing too.
