Bullitt, could you answer my previous question, or is that best left to Sam?

bullitt5897 04-20-2011 05:04 PM

To answer your question both lol

not only is it different in design but the flow rate is supposed to be drastically higher and more stable for FI applications. We are still testing this and will have a great set of comparisons for you guys.

Awesome thanks. I'm guessing this will have slight/minimal gains for N/A as well, or will it somewhat hinder performance due to increased area with the same flow volume until you can get an F.I. setup?

Beside the obvious difference in material, we struggled making 700 to the wheel on an HR engine. As the boost pressure increases, peculiar issues begin to arise. Making a cast manifold will only pave the way for this platform. We are also planning on testing the manifold on an NA application to see what kind of results we will get.

Sam, I know this may be a silly question, and forgive me if the explaination got lost in the sea of :bs: obscuring this thread...

But what exactly are the differences between the VR38 manifold and the VQ37 manifold? Is it purely the material/design/legths of runners, or are there a series of reasons why this will be a much better improvement?

Just curious how this one say stacks up vs the stock manifold and say the Motordyne manifold as well??

SAM@GTM 04-20-2011 05:24 PM

The GTR manifold conversion will require its own set of fuel rails.

Wow what a domino effect. Mike did mention something about custom fuel rails for his larger injectors. So even with the injectors for Stage 1 and 2 kit, these custom fuel rails will be required for this new manifold? Just wanted to be clear...

Thanks for the heads up.

Awesome, l'm looking forward to seeing the results, and how that GTR cover looks under the Z hood. Now all we need is a hood with plexiglass that can withstand the heat to show it off!

what about your supercharger applications?

Man i know when it is crackeed and the GTR manifold is ready im giveing him a call and getting a kit installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

toner123 04-23-2011 09:55 AM

you know imo i don't think you will see to much gain, being NA since the system is already sapose to be performing on max efficiency. ZI think who will see the best gain is th SC guys and then the turbos. Jon are you planning on getting a FI kit after this or before this. I would say do it all at once that way sam can send you the optimal tune.

NewYorkJon34 04-23-2011 10:00 AM

ya, Im just waiting for the Stg.2 S/C press release to come out with some info before I order the kit. I do know though that Ill have the Stg.2 Supercharger before the year is up.

Those of you comparing the build to an italia 458 did not read my original post... At the price that we were discussing as a fair market value for this car I.e. $120k the power performance could not be beat by most exotics... A built 700hp gtr would cost around this price and it would be a close match in a drag race... But again there are many variables which could change te outcome. I am not taking everyones comments as criticisms however some newer members here made accounts specifically to rag or as you would say keep things real... Honestly, I could care less. We are pushing the countries of the 370z platform with new ideas, concepts and technology. For you newer members it has been mine and my partners in this build along with UA motorsports and it's partners who have been innovating and bringing new products and technology advancements to this market and platform. No expense was spared on this build so that this build could be the very best you could do with te 370z platform. Some may not agree with my release of info on the build but that's your issue. Alot of the crap that's in this thread comes from garbage that isn't helpful to the thread. Their has been a reason why I don't post much on the thread tired of the garbage that seems to make it into threads like these.

I wish i could do a 1/4 of what your doing to your Z. I do believe its your car so do what you want and release what info you wish at your own discretion.

Sorry for seeming negative, I meant no offense. What are the performance spec goals you have in mind?
