hahahaha I wish! it has taken about a month for them to develop and produce the first production intake manifold. This is a very big/key part and I dont want them rushing or messing it up. I am fine with how they are making it lol Titanium would be tits though lol:tup:

Exposed titanium intake manifold runners? Yes please!

DIGItonium 01-27-2011 10:55 AM

That would be sick, but it's hard with the VR38 plenum sitting on top. Without the engine cover, it might be noticeable. I'm all for practicality, so plain intake manifold please! Good gawd I still haven't received my VR38 plenum from FsP.

BTW, my plenum came straight from the UK with some extra cooling attachments. Since I've never seen one in person, assuming this is removable, would it work with the GTM setup?

Also, since the engine cover needs to be removed to get access to the oil cap, I wonder if it's possible to keep the OEM oil cap and dremel a section out of the engine cover?

I plan on dremeling mine as well.

If you were premium you would know why. Nothing secretive just something in the premium section assigning a project name for your car. Something fun and the name some people come up with gives us a laugh

Just read through the important bits. Great work! Am I to understand that once the car is up and running, that this will be the test bed for real world VVEL tuning? And that up to this point it has been the brains reverse engineering it? Good luck, can't wait to see more progress!

For the most part yes. We will see what the gains of the VVEl have to offer. I know others in the past were scared to even tempt messing with it, or claimed they were doing it just to back out. I am sure this one will be promising since GTM has spent alot of time on this car and I refuse to believe it will fall short of all there goals. I just hope the VVEL can allow all of us some gains.

How is progress on the controller coming along? Any idea when it will be made available? :yum:

And you know what I agree with his decision on that. I am sure he has a idea on what it would increase power wise but he doesn't want to be held to it probably. I know when Sam gets this to work he is not going to with hold since A. He is going to be the first to control the VVEL and that is awesome well deserved.B. He knows everyone is sitting on the edge of there panties waiting for this lol.

My guess is that it accounts for, at bare minimum, another 5-9 whp at peak, which is the range of difference betwen a tuned Z with exhaust and a Nismo Z base on a dynojet.

And I bet there's room to grow from there too, especially with headers and freer flowing intakes :yum:

I think we'll start seeing a lot of NA Z's approaching the 320's once the VVEL can be tuned.
