Wow, the clearance on the exhaust is no joke! I would have never though about the wing creating enough force to collapse a carbon fiber hatch, maybe you can lay down some CF over the stock hatch to continue that carbon theme?

Kingbaby 01-23-2011 10:37 PM

that's why that was a waste of money...

please no air ride!

The weight of that wing alone would crush a CF hatch.:icon14:

For sure it's nothing new. The guys here are much more mellow and mature imo. Just kinda surprised seeing it happening here.

RCZ 01-24-2011 08:28 AM

wow there's no clearance under the exhaust..

I know its not practical but the rear wing at 180mph generates around 1800pnds of down force and would collapse the CF hatch. I talked to APR and I talked to Seibon about the issue. We are actually looking to frame mount the rear wing. So if I find a good deal on a CF hatch I may jump on it.

I find it funny that the guys over at my350 think i havent done my research... lol it cracks me up. I studied the my350z boards and their experiences mainly their failures and how not to do builds and I said F**** it I am going to do it right the first time. I had a list of parts and packages I gave to Sam. Sam went through my list and gave me some ideas and some things I needed to consider. this was not some over night decision. rather this was a decision that was made over weeks and months.

I will always have haters and I know that... I have gotten used to it lol. People hate my wheel color choice until they see it in person then they love it... so far I have a 100% conversion rate on wheel haters hahahaha

Honestly, I dont want to go airride and would rather have a roberta style cup kit. But After speaking with the techs over at Ridetech they have a new racing air bag line replacing their titanium series. which by the way is being custom made by Fox racing shox for their applications.

People will always hate my choice in parts. I dont care and they can voice their opinions on deaf ears. It is my car, my styling and for my purposes. This is the third car I have built but it is also the most extreme build I have ever done. This to me is art you either get it or you dont...

Thank you to all the supporters!

weiboy thank you for posting up pics! I hope you enjoyed seeing the car!

I really enjoyed looking at your car that day. I couldn't get enough just looking at it. The people that hasn't seen this in person really have no idea how beautiful it is built. From the front to back the lines of the car flows along the body kit so well. Far away for a person that doesn't know much will think you got a wide body kit lol. I had thought you did too. Those quad titanium exhaust looks freaking amazing, not something you'll see everyday on a Z. Great choice! Too bad I didn't get to see what you have inside your car.
Your wheels are crazy also, polished lip with blue. It matches pretty good with your car's color especially with those huge and I mean huge lips, what is it? Like 5-6inches deep lol.

Good job! I'm a fan of your car and how nicely, tastefully it is done. Keep up the good work!

People can voice their (negative) opinions as long as they do it in a respectful manner...its an inherent part of posting things on a public online forum. Plus if you have haters and the worst thing they can say is that they don't like the wheels and the stickers...then I think you've done fairly well for yourself. I still don't understand the theme at all, but appreciate the work you've done and the work your sponsors have done to make this project reality. I also like that you toned down the "look at me I'm awesome" attitude that surrounded this build when it started.

Really looking forward to results of the VVEL tuning and just overall how much power this thing ends up making. Oh and I second the frame mounting of the wing...its the safest way...otherwise it might do the old through-and-rip off.

I appreciate your stance and what you said RCZ... At the beginning I was super stoked and excited and flaunted the build. As the build has progressed I have toned down and really just excited to be able to have the car back soon :excited:

Frame mount is definitely the only way to go. I have been working with andrew (jamaica) on designs. I believe we will be mounting to the unibody through the license plate area incorporating a quick disconnect system and license plate holder. That way I can street the car without a massive wing and during track time have the needed down force. We also talked about putting a mount location for a hydralic/servo system to allow me to adjust the AoA on the fly in the cabin  that would be SICK!
