Actually, just the opposite. The knock is heard in all gears; and in conjunction, the car idles high. The chicken or the egg......knock or high idle....they seem to occur same time. To describe it better, it's as if the ecu has switched itself into a different map. Then when shutting off and restarting the car, it resets back to normal....no knock, no high idle.

ohhh this is fun. I don't think it is your tune that is the problem. Maybe someone can correct me on this but sounds like your car is leaning out. Unless like rcz said you just got a screwed up maf sensor reading all kinds of crazy ways. Does the stillen kit come with K&N airfilters? also are you able to run log files? Last do you have aim. much easier to do this over aim

what code did you throw

Car was behaving as usual so I figured it was just a glitch like a loose gas cap or something so I cleared the code and as I suspected it didnt come back. I didnt have the issues, but I figured I'd chip in a little info.

Osiris, your problem really sounds like your MAF's are getting funky readings. From what I've heard lately, it seems that those random code-less issues are most often due to this issue. I am surprised though that it's not putting your car in limp mode in the process. Instead you say it just knocks?

so in other words you didn't pull the code correct?

I gave him a list of steps to do over yahoo messanger. easier then going back and forth on the forum. I think he will find some results here. i know K&N airfilters are known for being maf sensor killers if there close to them since the oil they use screws them up. so i told him to clean them, run a fuel pressure test to verify fuel pressure is good then log files for maf voltage and a/f correction on banks 1 and 2

When my MAF sensor wasn't getting the proper voltages it immediately went into limp mode for approximately 10 minutes. I shut the car off, waited for a few minutes and turned the car back on. I find it weird that there's not a single check engine light... if the car does knock the ECU will immediately pull timing to protect engine failure.

It could also mean the MAF sensor is getting different readings then what the motor is actually seeing causing the knock issues. The MAF sensor is before the supercharger, so it will read a certain temperature, once the air hits the supercharger and pushes out through the outlet pipe to the throttle-bodies, the temperature is changed. Also, Stillen states the MAF sensors are suppose to be calibrated through the UpRev canned tune... who knows.

So this brings the list of enginen detination issues with the stillen kit to 2, is that correct? And if we are to believe the reports that stillen says themselves that the forums are only a very small part of their SC sales, whould it not also be safe to assume that there are other SC's out on the road that are having this issue but are not on this board. Art first it could almost be passiable that it was only one car and ya maybe that is it we all know there are "freak" cars out there that do weird things. But now we are on number 2. Not sure if the 2 issuesthey are behaving the same way but the question is to be asked will it need a software or hardware fix?

Wow, 159 pages. Did my best to scan but how does the stillen supercharger system work with the VDC? Any issues there?

Anybody here running a boost gauge with this kit?

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this. I filmed the car during one of it's high idling episodes. When i drove the car prior to and after this video, it was knocking like crazy, but i did not get that on video. Skip to about 35sec into video....you'll also notice my foot is not on the pedal.

In case the video doesn't show up, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBx4vfTgse4

sorry I had to laugh at the video. That's funny. Its like you are driving and shifting in a neighborhood road.

Nitex 12-03-2010 05:32 PM

When i threw a lean code while back, my ilde hung at 1k... But no up and down weirdness.. :shakes head:
