The only heat management you can do is to move the filter placement. I have shielded, wrapped and header armored all around and in every case there are varying degrees of filter melt. Wrapping the manifold is fruitless. I've narrowed the source of the heat to the header/manifold flange. If you tried to wrap the fit would be difficult in and out. If you shield the filter itself it also makes it a difficult push in or coming out. The melting area is located in the 1'oclock to 10'oclock area of the filter. At it's mildest it raised the silicone and made it shiny, at it's worst it bubbled the silicone and was almost completely sheared. If it wasn't a problem there wouldn't exist two separate attempts to remedy. I have a collection of filters and also photos of my various attempts to mitigate. In the latest try I have used header armor on the manifold and around the filter and so far I'm ok but this is a stopgap for the relocation kit to be up and readily available. That's what I'm waiting for.

Bp kit 6267 comp oil fed. Set up for time attack. Car is still a drill e at the shop for awhile. Going rogue with the set up.

I think that’s the difference right there. I have the original P6266 turbo, smaller filter. I assume that Comp has the ported compressor cover requiring that big *** filter.

Precision 6870 but it also happened with the 6266. Both have the 4" inlet.

Which is why I specified V1 vs V2. The compressor housing and routing of charge pipes is different between the two. V1 kits are smaller diameter inlet for the turbo housings

Not all the V2 had the larger inlet, it just depended on if you got the ported compressor cover or not. I upgraded my V1 kit for the cold side piping, so I have basically a V1.5.

With the new manifold the turbo sits at a slightly different location (very close to the previous). This allows me to use turbos that have the SP (S ported) compressor covers.
