How many good years I have left. It's money vs years vs enjoyment. My dad went to 69. He was in bad health at 59. My mom went to 88. But she was in bad health around 72. My sister died at 64. My brother is still going strong at 73. Do I want to pull out $30,000 from my retirement plan to fund my ego.

Haha, that will be someone else's issue because I won't care once I'm dead!

I'm having an old fashion Irish wake. Stand the coffin up in a corner and toast me all night. Then the next day. Put my feet in concrete. Put a water hose up my azz, and turn me into a fountain. But both of my middle fingers will be giving someone the bird.

I can remember my great grand dad having an Irish wake. It lasted for 4 days.

It is right at the 800whp level is what you hear. You also hear all the fear tactics of needing a closed deck block, etc. The problem I have is the folks that are fear mongering it can't be trusted. Just look at their previous adventures. They are the only ones making the closed deck blocks also. If I had another choice or more data on it, I would consider it.
So, if you keep it under 800hp you will be a little less than what you think. If you want to chase the 1000hp number, it will cost you. The bad part is you may have to do it several times until you figure out how to keep the engine together. You will be your own R and D department.

Nice words! I need to update my build sometime but these things you speak of I have been trying to. I decided that closed deck, despite the "fear mongering" as you put it, imo the best choice for where I'm rebuilding towards. I will definitely find out if the choice works or not and I will not be one who doesn't speak of my experiences. I have always told people about how my car journey has been going (I guess you can call it "R&D" now); for those who have been interested at least.

Here's a short list/summary of what I'm doing in case you weren't aware:
RJ Manufacturing Closed Deck
OEM VQ37VHR Crank
Carrillo VQ37VHR Rods
Traum Pistons 10:1
Built VQ35HR heads - Ferrea Comp Plus Valves, Tomei 272 10.8 intake and exhaust cams
Dynosty Head Gasket
625+ studs
Fast Intentions Stage 3 TT (65.67)

LOL, more than us. Folks are starting to push it. These 2 builds that have popped up in my thread will be very interesting.
Glad to have them on here.

Two companies are working on solution to keep the heads bolted down when making over 800whp and keeping the deck open.

Yeah I've kind of fallen off of the forums and onto fb/ig like others. I still visit myg37 when I have time and here when I remember.

Power wise I'm not sure yet, I started tuning the car myself so my goal main goal right now is to tune it the best I can get it on hptuners/93 pump gas. After that I'll reevaluate my long term goal - I'm mainly trying to decide if I should go full stand alone or not.

My main goal is to get the best 93 pump gas tune I can do. I did choose 14.5 psi wastegate springs for when I do decide to "turn it up". Maybe one day I'll update my build thread on here. :inoutroflpuke:

Unfortunately (fortunately?) my motor is getting close to be reassembly so I don't have the time to wait on seeing those solutions come to market. I'm starting to think this may be the last VQ motor for me..
