Well, today really has freaking sucked. I just got added to the long list of folks in the Blown Headgasket club. She's done. It is not a matter of IF you are going to blow the headgaskets, it is a matter of when. Not a happy camper. Blew at 17psi of boost. I rarely ran 22psi. Only 6 or 7 times. No way the car will make it to Zdayz 2020.

Welp, that sucks :(

It blew in glorious fashion getting on the interstate. 3rd gear, 17 psi of boost, having fun. Then a front windshield full of coolant. It blew the bottom radiator hose off the motor. The fire ring in the head gasket is done. No coolant in the oil. Just compression leaking into the blocks water jackets. May have more damage, won't know until the heads come off. I made it 7xxx miles and then the big oh shiet moment. Not even an hint of a problem, just BOOM!!!!!

Were you running L19 head studs? After Seb was freaking me out over head lift I did some reading and it's not a code red situation, more of a flashing yellow alert with no bells. Some of what I read was replacing whatever gasket with an HKS gasket and retorquing. I haven't had it yet and had that 27.8psi spike at Wannagofast but if it does happen I've rethought L19s and I'll go with a 625 setup. Good luck buddy.

That's a Christmas present that one wants. :shakes head:
When you take the heads off. Check the torque on the head bolts. Just curiosity. And if you knew what the length of the head studs was too. |
