1) not sold
2) would only sell it if I can restart at square 0 or higher and not make the same mistakes I made in the last 2 years. 3) the only issue with it is there something wrong with the boost , will try to get it checked out and fixed as best as possible before making more stupid irrational decisions on it than I already made xD 4) the other reasons why I had ideas of selling it was because I'm probably never going to make good use of my engine's potential lol since I'm supercharged. So either I step up the blower to YSi/Nova 2200x and upgrade the transmission or sell the engine to someone who could actually make use of if with a high profile turbo build and use a stock engine. I really only have this engine cause I didnt wana spend 7k on a remanufactured stock engine and I was caught in the worst time for the stock one I had to blow the rod. It was between me quitting my last job and a week before starting my new one at the group home I work at, lol. So this engine was actually bought in panic mode / irrational thoughts mode because I needed a car to use and that was my only daily xD Yes yes some of u gna say it's normal for me to make irrational dumb stubborn decisions so it's nothing new so I'll say it first before yall say it lol. Its whatevs. This was also before I knew anybody in the Z community and also knew close to nothing about what route to take blah blah. 5) I'm gona have the car checked out this week to hopefully test the boost issue. The attached screenshot shows the issue. Many friends told me it looks like a boost leak and not belt slip. Some things we will test is: - Clean the air filter and put it back on to see if I make same boost or not as currently - See what the car makes without the air filter, what psi it will be at. - Swap the 3.2" SC pulley down to a 3.0" SC pulley over spinning it about 3k faster or so and see what it makes - Check all the connections, couplers, vaccum lines, BPV to make sure it's all good and secure or not. Hopefully we will detect where the leak is coming from and fix it from there. That and the engine be knocking and Eugene has been pulling so much timing from all sorts of areas because of it, it ain't even funny. Probably a stock 370z can keep up with me lol at this point in time with all the million degrees of timing he pulled. I mean I can swap to e85 and get all my timing back probably but I still wana know why my vehicle is knocking the way it is ar low and high RPMs. AFR is fine on the logs so idk! Long term fuel trims are also fine. |
ummm yeaaaaaaaaa you spent so much on the engine to supercharge it?
smart money would be on some turbos. you could be well into 4 figure HP numbers with the engine build and some big boy snails and have 0 of the headaches. especially considering the stage 3 build they offer is rated for over 1000whp. |
Live and learn grasshopper.

I went supercharger based on me staying a stock engine. Then I blew a rod. And I'm in california. I did not know anyone at the time that could get me to pass smog when I purchased the supercharger kit. In fact i knew nobody at all in the car scene. So with those things considered, I needed to stay carb legal hence why I bought that carb SC kit with the intention that I'll have the same block lol. But things took a change for the worse and I lost that engine, n bought this one on a whim when I had already planned to upgrade the engine as the very last thing instead of forcefully do it up front due to broken stock block. I was told the stage IV handles up to 1000rwhp not stage 3 from IPP. And cuz I'm a dirty automatic kid, I'm unfortunately stuck with a weak *** transmission, lol. So yeah. I totally get what ur saying though. If I knew ahead of time I wouldnt need to worry about smog then I'd of definitely gone turbos :( |

cali blows just move. you got terrible laws, smog, fires, earthquakes, and millions of homeless. i find "but the weather is perfect" to be a :bs: line anymore. also, Level10 makes a 1000whp capable tranny. the stage 3 short block handles up to 1000whp per their website. i live in PA with strict vehicle emission laws. i have not had cats on my Z for 8 years without issue. not hard to "know a guy" who knows they aint there but doesnt care. especially when FI makes amazing products that dont throw a CEL. i have solutions to any excuse you can give lol |

im not going to move out just because of a car reason -.- that's dumb for my situation currently lol. i love california and i dont think ill ever move out of it. you may have solutions but it doesn't mean they will be plausible and logical solutions for my living situation at the moment :P yes im too lazy and dont want to learn manual, so what. boo hoo. lol. yes california sucks in that it has terrible fires and laws that are terrible for people who like to modifiy their cars. oh well. at the time i didn't have anyone to help pass smog for me so i was taking the safe route, anything wrong with that? xD i tried to make do with what i knew at the time. but of course nobody would understand that because they weren't me so that's understandable. Also. The stage 3 handles up to 850 rwhp as per their website. The stage 4 has a typo on it in which i asked kyle about and even told him and mentioned it to him and he was like it was a typo and he will fix it but it seems like he never fully fixed it. The stage 4 still says "stage 3..." on it but the RWHP numbers are changed. If you look at the actual stage 3 link it says it handles up to 850 RWHP and when you swap to stage 4 link it says 850 - 1000 rwhp. lol and cuz i have a closed deck short block from RJM it is definitely able to handle 30+ psi which im never going to make use of but hey its good to know lol |

i will turn my 370z into a manual. i mainly want to do 1/4 mile passes and automatics are faster than manuals in general for that from most of the research and forums i've read from various places. |

We don't have tornados, which probably kill more people in a year than in the history of earthquakes in California. 22% or 1 in 4.5 people live in poverty in Pittsburgh. See, both of our states are shitholes but I can drive my car year round in my shithole lol. |
I'm glad I don't pay your taxes. :rofl2:

I dont know whats going on exactly. I tend to cry a lot and demand constant attention... i also enjoy spending a great deal of other people's money. I guess it's a test deficiency thing. |

So when are you moving to AZ? |

Every state has their stuff, some are definitely worse than others. I will take our stupid over most the rest.

Sorry to change the subject real quick but...just wanted to share what we found last night so far regarding where the boost issue is coming from:
(1) Boost Gauge shows 10.7 PSI at around 5800 RPM then the boost drops afterward (This was without any type of air filter / turbo guard on the supercharger head unit), with 3.0" SC pulley swapped out with the 3.2", and the 9PSI pulley on the serpentine side. (.74 bar = ~10.7 PSI). This was also in 3rd gear. So we concluded that because the boost still drops and has the same pattern as before when I had the air filter on, and just a 9psi pulley swap to where the PSI dropped at around the same time (5800 - 6000 RPM) and after those RPM numbers, the boost dropped, the air filter definitely was not the issue even though it was pretty busted looking and very dirty. We put the air filter back on for now as that's all the time that was had for until mid-november. We will do a pressure test on the car next to see if there is any leaks that maybe we missed earlier this year. After that, if there is no signs of pressure leaks anywhere, then we will open up the blower and see if maybe there is anything wrong with the impeller. If that checks out...then I don't know. Anyone have any other ideas where else we can diagnose this boost issue? Thanks! |
You could take off the SC side belt, making the car NA, and use the old carb cleaner search. With the SC connected, the positive pressure generated by the SC will keep the carb cleaner out.
I popped off the charge pipe directly from the SC, connected the pressure test adapter that I got from Z1, and tested using my air compressor. Most of my boost issue comes from the filter, which is why I made a thread dedicated to finding something more efficient. I do most likely have a few little leakers though, as my setup, per Topgunz, should be seeing 15-16 psi but peaks around 13. I will look for those soon, once I have my intake setup done enough haha. Good luck! |

Great ideas guys, Thanks a lot! ^^ Appreciate them. Will see about doing those things the next time we have time to diagnose it again later this month!!
