Will say we've begun installing the kit onto the 370Z shop vehicle, as well as documenting and detailing the installation instructions.

More info to come soon..

Wish I had read this before I dropped by there yesterday lol. Stillen is on my way to my dentist so I left a little early to see if I could check it out. Sam told me it was in peices :owned:

Sam works at Stillen?

Kyle@STILLEN 03-03-2010 12:34 PM

LOL!

We have our own Sam! Coincidentally the head of our Service Department and one of our master tech's who has been with us for close to 15 years is also named Sam.

(Too avoid confusion) "Sammy" is a good guy and he really knows his Nissan's.

Red370 03-03-2010 12:58 PM

I'm still waiting on that info release you guys said would be ready this morning!! its noon!

RCZ 03-03-2010 12:59 PM

Some entertainment while we wait

Hey guys, I was just on thesmokingtire and found this video about Stillen, starring Kyle and the big man himself. (And bonus footage of the 370Z body kit being made and molded!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QudC7gHacJM

I did not know they had these kind of resources. Its like a damn race team in there. I don't have a doubt in my mind they are going to pump out some serious serious engineering and performance out of their SC kit.

Haha, yeah, just playing guys.

G Fo12ce 03-03-2010 01:40 PM

There is some small red print on Kyles signature announcing thier customer appreciation day (May 8th). If my memory serves I think they do some shop tours. RCZ, road trip from FL right lol? See you there.

RCZ 03-03-2010 01:44 PM

Yeah Josh told me about that, I'm trying hard to look for job related reasons to fly out there, trust me!

LiquidZ 03-03-2010 02:10 PM

Ahhh... the anticipation.

I had such a good lunch today...Quizno's turkey ranch and swiss sandwich with bacon! Oh man, it was tasty!

Now you know for sure that I'm the fat guy in the Smokingtire video! LOL!

Seriously though, Josh is working on an update...should be ready in a few minutes.

BLUESLATE 03-03-2010 05:10 PM

It's been more than a few minutes!!! Arrrrgh I can't wait to seeeee!!! :D

LiquidZ 03-03-2010 05:14 PM

I'm F5'ing

RCZ 03-03-2010 05:18 PM

Kyle, the Honey Mustard Chicken w/ Bacon is by far the best quiznos sanwich there is.

LUVZTTZ 03-03-2010 05:30 PM

I can only assume the HP and Torque figures are so astronomical that Josh is triple-checking them...

kdoske 03-03-2010 05:30 PM

im ready, im ready.....

G37Sam 03-03-2010 05:32 PM

RCZ 03-03-2010 05:34 PM

Hmm, he said it was an update. Wonder if its an update or a full product release.

Josh@STILLEN 03-03-2010 07:15 PM

Wanted to give an update on the progress of the STILLEN supercharger, as well as a dyno sheet of the kit. As you are aware our initial installation has been our automatic G37 with large show wheels.

Over the last couple of weeks, the car has been up on the dyno, finalizing the tuning, and more recently, and importantly, tuning off the dyno (for drivability and loaded performance). We’ll have some pictures and videos of the driving tests put together soon. Below is a dyno sheet run of the CARB-planned kit on the automatic G37.

3rd Gear Run - G37 AT - 500+hp / 422whp - CARB-Planned Kit

http://www.stillen.com/media_files/s...r_g37_dyno.jpg

Dyno testing and tuning is only a small portion of what goes into the engineering behind a STILLEN supercharger system. Tuning on a dyno versus under load on the road and track are two very different tasks. Also, dynos can’t really simulate race track experiences and how the car responds to heat, oil breakdown, increased operating temperatures and long duration load. Sure, it’s possible to come up with theories on the performance of vital components such as intercoolers and oil coolers but theory does not compare to experience and testing.

A dyno can’t tell you what the airflow looks like through your vital coolers when the car is on the track. Or how many laps you’ll be able to complete before your car goes into limp mode. It has always been a priority of STILLEN to offer a supercharger that can complete every minute on the track, not to mention survive on the street in hot conditions.

As we mentioned before, we have been undergoing extensive drivability testing, both around town, as well as being pushed to the limits and beat on in a test track environment:
  • Repeated high speed runs in excess of 140mph
  • Temperature monitoring (just a few of the many data points we collected during our testing)
  • IAT pre and post intercooler under hard driving conditions
  • Engine Oil under hard driving conditions
  • Intercooler coolant under hard driving conditions
  • Transmission performance under hard driving conditions
  • Effects of airflow to new coolers without impeding flow to radiator under hard driving conditions
  • Transmission stability – starts, cornering, up and down shifts under loads
  • General drivability - part-throttle, full-throttle, stops, starts, different loaded conditions

We are quite satisfied with the early performance of the G37 and are now in the process of installing the planned CARB-stage kit onto the company 370Z 6-speed as well as documenting and developing the step-by-step instructions for the kit. Obviously the manual Z will be a more efficient chassis with less driveline loss, and we’ll post those dynos as they are available. Performance increases of 5-10% are common between manual and automatic vehicles.

A note regarding CARB: In order for a supercharger kit to be submitted to CARB for approval, everything about the kit must be completely finalized, including instructions, bill of materials (parts list), tuning, pulley size, peak boost, etc. Once that information is looked at, a testing session is granted at an approved facility. Nothing can change from the original bill of materials once submitted. We’re unable (as anyone would) to say that we’re CARB pending until that submission has taken place.

That being said, we have a long history with gaining CARB approval, including the STILLEN Superchargers for the Nissan 3.5L, 4.0L and 5.6L engines, and anticipate no delays in gaining approval for this system.

We are flat out in building our first batch of production components, prepared for its release, including the intake manifold castings, machining, supercharger units, components, etc. and are on track for shipped fully tuned supercharger kits in early April.

There will be stages above the CARB planned kit, with a built-in upgrade path without requiring a compressor change... unless an extremely high horsepower goal is in mind, which we can plan for up front depending on your ultimate goals for your build.

(And this isn't an official press release.. we'll have that as we finish the proper testing/tuning/drivability.. but that's coming soon.. things will move quickly from this point.)

Sorry about the timing.. besides the supercharger things haven't slowed down a bit around here! New products, upcoming events (our show May 8th!), and general business..

Things will continue to be exciting the next couple of weeks, especially with the 370Z!

RCZ 03-03-2010 07:24 PM

Lol 422whp on the carb-legal kit with automatic transmission, heavy wheels and track friendly????

Sorry, where do I sign, I got dibs on the first :)

m4a1mustang 03-03-2010 07:41 PM

Hell yeah, Josh! Thanks for the update... this looks very promising.

Was that dyno done with with the heavy rims? In the drift pictures it isn't so maybe the final dyno didn't have the show rims?

kdoske 03-03-2010 07:49 PM

sweeeeeeeeeet

Red370 03-03-2010 07:50 PM

oh wow... amazing, just amazing... TQ could be higher, but the power with an auto G37 with big heavy wheels, its expected. I'm predicting a 450whp 370.

Red370 03-03-2010 07:53 PM

Oh, and the fact that those are CARB legal numbers... Stage 3? 500whp?

Zsteve 03-03-2010 07:59 PM

price? hmmm both kits very close in numbers but one has a little more TQ, price is going to be the factor I think.

I'm wondering if this dyno used the big wheels because if so, it would close that TQ gap. Thats why I mentioned that earlier. If not then maybe once this makes it to the Z 6MT it'll pick up some gains. :D

We will have pricing shortly.. as well as have an introductory price, and will be taking good faith deposits from pre-order customers to secure there place in line for the first units shipping.

That deposit will be $500.

Different dyno's.. Different dyno operators. Comparing them and trying to figure out why one has 10 more torque is pointless.

You are correct sir! This dyno is with the show 20's before we made the switch to the factory non-sport 18's.

96bigbody 03-03-2010 08:12 PM

8PSI on the dyno?

cotizi 03-03-2010 08:12 PM

Why a 3rd gear pull? What's the gear ratio on a g37? Also worth noting is that the baseline is a stock g37, versus the supercharger that includes stillen exhaust. What psi was this run done at?

Quite nice for a CARB kit, for sure.

good point, why the heavy wheels to begin with? Is the carb legal at 8 psi?

Red370 03-03-2010 08:13 PM

The car will make more power on the 6MT 370, so dont use the G as a reference point. Also keep in mind that this is their CARB kit, numbers are low to keep it smog compliant. The non CARB, I/E Stage 1/2/3 will have significant increases in power because smog will not be taken into consideration and there will be more aggressive tunes.
