YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. I was thinking along these lines

tower74 12-22-2011 10:49 PM

Well I will be working on some videos soon. Going to try to get mine tuned again at another shop. Hopefully they can fine tune out the bugs.
Trust me unless you have heard one or taken a ride in one you wouldn't understand. It might not produce a much as a GTM TT but your also only getting one turbo that it capable of going up to 630hp. You are also not using up space under the hood.
I've been happy with the results for the price ( I went for basically the top of the line version) and I don't blame STS for the problems I have had, I blame the shop that installed it.

Great cant wait for the VIDS ! what was included in your build and the cost? would you change anything about the build that is ? any over heating ? what size oil cooler do you have ? Thanks

Total with install was around $10,000, but as I said I went all out. Methanol injection, oil cooler, ceramic coated, ball bearing upgrade, & boost controller.
No overheating at all, even when I'm running it hard. The highest I've seen the oil get was around 200 and the water temp holds steady at 1 bar below half way.
Save your money on the on the meth injection unless you can find a larger tank that will fit. Currently using my windshield washer bay and it's gone after about 25min of hard boosting.
Unsure on the size of the oil cooler. The build was done while I was out of town so my pic's are limited. I will however be removing the factory body kit and replacing it with an Amuse body kit shortly. So I should have a better idea on that. Carbon fiber AMS hood will be in on Friday next week.
All in all when it's cold, like today, I was driving at 45mph in 3rd and slammed the gas and the car went sideways on the interstate. Most people fall back because they thought I was going to wreck.:happydance:

That sounds great Tower any info is helpful ,Maybe we can get Jamaica to do some vids !

edub370 12-24-2011 10:19 AM

hey tower, next time your in town, hit me up and we can throw a few vids together for the guys

Chinook 12-24-2011 01:12 PM

Hey tower, how much does the washer reservoir hold? And how is your methanol kit set up? Does it gradually increase fluid as your boost increases or is it just full out all the time?

I would have to say 1 gallon on the tank. After the body mods we are hoping for a little more space up fron the from the Amuse body kit. I've got 2 lights in the center that when it begins to spray both red and green light up. Then a solid green when it's wide open. I've ran three diffrent ways. With methanol, with the 50/50 mix system (bottle of heat and windshield washer fluid) and with out. Don't really see the diffrence when either one is in action. It's only being used to help cool the engine at high boosts.

Yeah we can do that just hit me up. I'm busy up until the 28th or 29th but after that I should be good. I'm think of pulling off the intakes and having them powder coated while I'm out of town and the body kit should be in by the 2nd week of Jan. Hood by Friday so I might be spending a few minutes on Saturday trying to get the new hood installed.
Almost wanting to paint the whole car blue and keep the black rims.:stirthepot:

Hey Jamaica how's your builds going on those Z's. Haven't seen anything on FB about them just that y'all were starting them. Also got a question for you. How much HP would I be looking at if installed a 4.2 or 4.5 stroker upgrade? I seen a thread had been started but it turned into a mess after a spoiled kid got on there , then the thread was closed. Just curious.

edub370 12-24-2011 08:04 PM

It's suppose to be almost 50 by thursday. I know I need to clean the hell out of mine. Last few days of her sitting out in the cold. New place she gets her own house.

blackonorange 12-24-2011 09:36 PM

When my kit comes can I drive it in winter?

My car runs like a bat out of hell when its cold and it'll run better in the cold. The colder the turbo and/or air that the turbo is taking in the better. You loose HP when the car is hot. It was 28f about 3 days ago and my oil temp never went about 185 (help from oil cooler). Just don't forget to have the water sock on your air filter....or as I do make sure it's on when you know it's going to rain. Kinda sucks parked on the side of the highway puttting it back on because you can see the rain moving in.

blackonorange 12-25-2011 10:20 AM

What about like super cold minus 30 f lol I live in Canada

I would say go for it, as long the roads aren't icy.:driving:
I am only starting to learn more and more about the whole system but the purpose of the innercooler is to cool down the air. So it being colder than a well diggers ***, which means everything will stay cold. Just don't forget to let your oil temp come up. You don't want to be running it hard with oil that's thick.

blackonorange 12-25-2011 04:38 PM

Yea it's not like I'm gonna drive it when it's storming out I'm just wondering about boost creep and stuff when it's that cold , I've always to myself not to drive my z in the winter but I can't see my self holding off with 500 whp sitting in the garage lol

Right. It is kinda hard not to basically live in it. For me, it's the filling up every 3 days that stops that. Hell I've put almost 3000 miles on my car since September and I only put an average over 3000 miles every 6 months.

edub370 12-31-2011 05:12 PM

ok got a few clips of the sts kit on tower's 370 thought i'd throw em up here since there seems to be very little documented footage of this kit in action. enjoy!

i'm definately no video editing pro but i think this vid will give you guys a decent idea of what this thing is like

blackonorange 12-31-2011 05:18 PM

God, I can't wait any longer ....

Gunzero 12-31-2011 05:27 PM

Do wannttttt!!

tower74 12-31-2011 05:33 PM

Was wishing it wasn't so windy. At the same time some of these vidoes really doesn't do the system justice. Actually feeling the car pull and the sound is something else. Just like most things, actually feeling it is truely the only way to go. Gotta thank Edub for taking the time to shoot these videos.
All I can say anyone who is looking into buying the system..go for it. No heat issues...it was 65f outside and I ran the piss out of it and the oil temp never went about 220. Water temp stayed at it's usual 1 below half.

edub370 12-31-2011 06:54 PM

His oil temps after all these vids were cooler than my car was running on the way home

blackonorange 01-01-2012 03:09 AM

No oil cooler?

What kind do you have tower?

erkthejerk73 01-01-2012 03:40 PM

Stillen...if you order it from STS it will all come in the same kit. Basically everything I ordered it came from STS. Like I said early I bought the system and had to leave town for about 2 months for work. So I more or less handed over $11,000 and said "I trust you" to a company and shop I had never done business with but it worked out.

Still miss my 350...even tho I only had it for 6 months before they had this one sitting out front while I was getting my oil changed. Damn impulse.

but u like the 370 better ;)

Dzel 01-01-2012 05:32 PM

Finally a video I've been saving for this kit I was even thinking of going with the GTM stage 2 SC but my hearts set on a turbo. I thought the kit was only around 5k?

Jamaica 01-01-2012 06:02 PM

I have driven both. Both are good kits. Just depends on what your plan is. The kit is more than 5k. It's around 5400+ depending in the configuration. People always want cheaper options but you can't go cheap on forced induction

Not even close. With all the options I got it's closer to $10,000, but if you take off the methanol injection, oil cooler, boost controller and the ball bearing upgrade you might be closer to that price. Oh and ceramic coating.
I figured why go cheap on something like this....I know I feel better about it with a lead foot like I have.

Dzel 01-01-2012 11:30 PM

I'm gonna need a price on a complete kit without the methanol, and you right you can not go cheap on forced induction. Hit me up with a price for the kit, boost controller, ceramic coating, and ball bearing upgrade.

You can call the guys at STS...ask for Rick Squires or someone in sales. They don't actually sell the kits. Look at their lists of local dealers to find someone close you. They do get busy sometimes so don't get mad if it takes a minute for them to respond. Otherwise they are great guys.
I believe with taxes my ran me about $7500...the methanol was an extra $300-$500, I think.

Jamaica 01-02-2012 12:28 AM

UAM is a dealer for STS turbo. And on top of that we dont add taxes.

Dzel, I will send you pricing on the items you wanted.

Dzel 01-02-2012 09:05 AM

Thanks J. I live in Texas and found a shop in San Antonio that can install and tune it. I'd rather buy it from UAM and have it installed I'm just worried about finding a good tuner
