We tuned a car yesterday that got 450 whp and 381 lb of torque

blackonorange 12-15-2011 05:43 PM

Everything else stock?

Jamaica 12-15-2011 05:44 PM

Yup everything else was stock. With meth and a few upgrades over 500whp is achievable

blackonorange 12-15-2011 05:46 PM

What psi are you running and give me some details on these upgrades

I know from the web page they say it's an easy install but I know that the guys that installed my cussed a lot. I'm sure it was due to the fact that there was no design form my version of the 370z.

it really doesnt look that hard to do, just like to be prepared before i get into it. Is anyone running the stock clutch and if so how is it holding up?

erkthejerk73 12-16-2011 10:24 AM

Jamaica what type of dyno do you have?

Mine is the AT7 tranny and as long as you keep the VDC off you should be fine. Don't know about the clutch, tho. The only time I use the VDC is when it rains and I also have a boost controller and I drop it to the 5psi setting. Still at 403hp at 5psi it will still get away from you if you gas it. The Nitto tires I have on my car suck in the rain but are hard tires so they seam to grab a little better.
I have got about 2000 miles so far on the turbo.

blackonorange 12-17-2011 08:31 PM

I just ordered my setup I got the upgraded turbo as well what gauges are u guys running?

If I was at home I could tell you but we used the space were the navigation would of gone. Also good idea going with the ball bearing upgrade.
Did you gets your turbo coated? And did you go all out...innercooler, oil cooler, boost controller, etc. My total kit was $7800 plus another $2500 in gauges, labor and the methanol injection. The price can get away from you real quick but it is the best turbo for the money.

To each there own. There is only a few kits on the current market. GTM TT kit isnt bad but I prefer the Greddy over the GTM. Greddy has better parts IMO when dealing with both. STS is a good kit. The kit is making more power then Stage 1 SC and Stage 1 TT.

O&G 12-18-2011 06:17 PM

If your gunna compare kits make sure they are both running similar boost at the very least. To say one is making more power than the other is ........ So many variables from one build to another. IMO, best not to compare.

Jamaica 12-18-2011 06:21 PM

STS kit was on 7psi making 450who 381 torque. This was without meth injection on 91 octane.

We have another car were doing going to have the ball bearing turbo upgrade with meth.
Zach white a forum member also has the same setup. I am waiting to see his results.

O&G 12-18-2011 06:24 PM

Dynos, conditions, locations, exhaust diameter, gas, etc....... variables! What kind of dyno was this?

great power, regardless.

I'm not sure if I got the turbo coated or not I know the piping is getting coated so I assume the turbo is as well I don't know if inner cooler is a typo but don't all sts kits for the 370 come with inter cooler ? I got a Plx 3 in 1 gauge to keep it simple, I'm not getting a boost controller Jamaica is still getting back to me on controlling boost minimally with different maps with the uprev tuning . I still have to get a oil cooler but other than that I should be set for a while

FYI be very careful messing with the PLX device motherboard, i have a wideband on my 350z and i unplugged it one day while driving b/c the light from the gauge was driving me crazy and it killed the unit b/c of a power surge or something.

blackonorange 12-19-2011 08:56 AM

Yea idk what Plx model it actually is Jamaica is also getting back to me about thy as well but your info is surely noted I will not unplug it haha

I'll be busy up until the 29th. Moving, car refinance etc. but yeah we can do that. I also seen its gonna be in the 30's so that should help in the maximum HP.:tiphat:

Well I seen some kits don't come with the inner cooler. I would have say its coated if your piping is coated. Hope you have as much fun with it as I have had. Good luck on the install.

Has anybody done any track or autoX in a STS 370z ? Just wanted some feed back on their experiences Thanks .Patrick

edub370 12-19-2011 04:50 PM

theres a youtube vid of an sts z autocrossing on youtube somewhere

blackonorange 12-19-2011 05:02 PM

Yea it only does one lap then goes to limp mode it didn't have a cooler

blackonorange 12-19-2011 07:32 PM

And to add Jamaica has been great with all the questions I've had before I bought and after no matter what time even after midnight he answers my questions great guy to deal with

pyrrhus17 12-19-2011 09:37 PM

What oil coolers do they recommend for track/auto X (34 row ) what about a csf radiator

34 row will probably work, but i think you should read this thread to get a better understanding of what to expect. http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...induction.html

Personally, I would look at the CSF and GTM radiator options with oil heat exchangers built into the radiator. That appears to be the best strategy.

pyrrhus17 12-20-2011 03:08 PM

Does the CSF unit have a oil heat exchangers built into the radiator? $1700 for the gtm set up is steep but if I can track my car and add a turbo later then it would be worth it if your cooling problems were gone . Mine"s a MT so I would just need to worry about the rear diff ? Am i on the right track (pun ) here guys ?

blackonorange 12-20-2011 08:46 PM

What's an oil heat exchanger ?

An oil cooler i.e. a radiator for your oil.

blackonorange 12-21-2011 05:31 AM

So the oil cooler is attached to it?

no it is the oil cooler, just like a seatrab oil cooler, it is just located on the radiator.

pyrrhus17 12-22-2011 09:49 AM

what surprises me about the sts system is ... still little or no video nothing for those who are interested to watch compare with a sc 370z or a TT . I mean if you want me to spend 7000 grand I would like to see it win some races or perform well on the track ! No disrespect but STS should do a little promo or something ? what do you guys think ? The system looks great but lets see some vids
