Default How much sound will I lose?

Gotta switch out Kinetix high flow cats for the OEM cats, to Avoid burning out the HFC's. Exhaust currently sounds perfect, with the AAM 2.5" True Dual Exhaust. With changing out the HFC's, any idea how much sound am I going to lose? Trying to prep myself for it :-/ TIA

Ok, thanks for the guess! I guess the flip side question is: is anyone running OEM cats with an open exhaust behind it? How does it sound?

OEM cats are the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. Dump them for test pipes and run open exhaust behind those

Since I'm still on Stillen canned Tune for the SC, I had to switch over to OEM cats. May see if I can pick up some Test Pipes to swap in, even though it'll lose some back-pressure (and therefore psi / HP from the SC).

I did not realize you were running a SC. If you go with TPs, you probably don't want open exhaust because of that back pressure loss.

Yeah, I've currently got AAM 2.5" true dual exhaust on it. Wondering how it'll sound with test pipes and that.

Take it from a guy that has been there done that. Get the Motordyne ART pipes if you want the sickest sounding exhaust. It is tame when it needs to but will put fear into people when you open her up with a supercharger blowing through it.

Also, I still cant believe the ridiculous misconception of "lets make backpressure for power". This is complete bs. Yes you will measure more boost on your gauge and if that is what you are after then go ahead. If you want power then open that sucker up. The more air you pull in the more needs to go out. The faster that can happen the more HP is created. Boost in the manifold is nothing more than restriction in the manifold.

Do you guys really think that's a good thing? Just get test pipes..... The ART sound the best. Unless you want rasp and possibly drone then get straight pipes. It sounds mean to some but I think its obnoxious. And your neighbors will hate you.

Yes, totally makes sense on the total air flow/backpressure/HP note. Main reason i switched for now was to save the HFC's until i get re-tuned and get rid of Stillen's super rich ratio that could ruin em. Keeping the HFC's in the garage for now, will likely put em back up when i get re-tuned sometime next year.

You can still melt those HFC's. If that happens you will not only be out of a set of them but you could also pop your motor. In fact, the OEM cats have shown to hold up better than HFC's so why would you put those back on? If its all for sound then get a cheap set of test pipes and be done with it. By cheap I mean test pipes are cheap in general but ART pipes are a little spendy, but well, well worth it.

I will soon have Resonated Test Pipes from FI on my FI exhaust system with 18in Res and Carbon Fiber mufflers for street use. For meetup and show use I'm going to swap the mufflers for custom muffler deleted polished tails. talk about roar down the street while going slow hahah
