Here is 'Fritz' [looks just like yours when he's clean and dry] - He is an Australian Terrier - if you mix an Australian with a Yorkie you get a Silky. 'Fritz' is a Toy-a-Holic [the squeakier the better] - he is on the couch slobbering up his toy Sausages. I have a female Silky who is going to be 12 yrs old on Thanksgiving day. Her name is 'Gia' - and she came from a large Italian family so I call her my 'gumad' [girlfriend on the side :-] Then there is 'Max' - alias 'Wooly Bully' a Yorkshire terrier mix with Rocky Balboa. He's the 'Tough Guy' in the pack. #4 is Little Lily - the real boss of the outfit. She's a year and a half old 6 lb. Yorkie ... and quite a character. 'The 4 Amigos' tied to a tree Left to Right: Gia - her job is to keep the trees awake [and she does a fine job of it, you'll notice that the tree behind them isn't sleeping] Lily - her job [as I like to describe it] is 'Spontaneous Creative Interior Re-Design' [she is quite good at rearranging the house to suit her fashionable tastes when I'm at work] Max - his job is to patrol the area and protect the pack - he's fearless. Fritz - his job is proper care, maintenance, and instructional use of anything toy related. Enjoy

From a troubleshooting perspective, going back to the last known good configuration could be pretty helpful. At this point so many different parts of the car have been fiddled with, it might be worthwhile to hit the reset button on the modifications.

You could have them fab up two straight intake pipes with MAF mounts just leave the pipes open to the air. Place screens over the end so you don't suck anything into the engine and see if it'll idle that way. If it does you know the intake design was problematic. If it doesn't it's something else.

This is what im doing, im going to get a 5" single pipe with with maf extenders.
The 5" should flow more than enough, maybe the 5.5" pipe. Stock has 2 - 2.5" pipes right? so in theory the 5" should work with the maf extenders. hope your pup gets well!

I believe 5" is way more volume that 2-2.5" so that should work. With mine they are trying to SD tune it so it shouldn't be the MAFs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A single 3.5" pipe would flow about the same as a pair of 2.5".... just a hair under.

I think ill go with a 4.5" single pipe, with both mafs in extenders, like sashas first design.

So we thought we tricked the car but it still idles like crap. The shop owner told me yesterday that it worked on one MAF but not the other. What would that mater with SD tuning?
So you guys know, I've passed on every suggestion you have made to the shop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Food time is always an interesting experience - Max and Gia race to see who can gulp down their supper the fastest, while Fritz and Lily nibble one piece at a time. The hardest part though, is getting them in and out of the car [they ride in the G37] Once in the car, they have developed an effective technique [they work in pairs] for slipping their harnesses and then it becomes a circus. Lily also likes to stand on the center console and look out the windshield as she tap dances on the radio/nav/emergency flasher buttons. So I never really know where I'm going, nor what music I'm about to listen to. It's always a surprise. And, I'm constantly making new friends as cars go around me flashing their lights and waving their finger[s] at me [as a friendly gesture of course] just to let me know that my flashers are working AOK. It's good to know that there are concerned and helpful drivers out there on the roads. Gia once fell asleep on my left leg on a late night/early morning trip up to Maine a few weeks ago. She was straddling my thigh and her legs were just'a'dangling there and a' twitchin' away as she dreamt. So peaceable ... A Kodak moment :-) That is, until she started chasing critters in her sleep and her twitching paw hit the seat adjustment switch - moving the back of the seat forward. I soon found my nose buried into the steering wheel trying to pull over to the side of the road with one eye straining to look up and over the dashboard .... I may have spotted a UFO during the seat position transition, but I'm not 100% sure on that one. aaarrrrggghhh. Wouldn't have it any other way though ...

I found an old post Sam from you know where about SD tuning our cars that doesn't sound good. Does anyone know a 370Z that is actually SD tuned? I was at the DR office so when I found it so I took a pic.

I am straight up Speed density tuned. If you can somehow get ahold of him, John Visconti is the one who did my tuning. Back when we were all talking about this last month on this thread, I told him that a lot of people were trying to use a 3bar map sensor and he insisted it could only be done with a 4bar (no idea why). So that is what I am running. My MAFs play 0 role in how my car is tuned per John. Haven't heard form him in a couple weeks with more questions I have had but he would know what and how SD works on our cars.
