rear fog light help.

Please direct me to which link is the easiest and most up to date. Some of the write-ups look like their old ways. How do you get to the fake lens? I put my hands under the bumper and the exhaust is close and all I feel is bumps no bolts/screws.

since the rear bumper hasn't changed, even the old diy should be pretty consistent to your.. oh wait, you drive a 2009. LOL

you need to stick your head under the bumper to see how it is mounted. there are nuts i remember i had to cut in order to remove the butt plug.
i used a metal cutting disc on my rotary tool.

So opening the hatch and taking the interior covers off won't get you near it. Did someone do a removal write-up with pics so I can figure it out. the car is already low and I could barely get fingers in there or get under it..

Lay down and look at it. Theres two bolts holding it on if I remember right.

As far as I know, there have been no changes to the rear fog light, so find a DIY that you can understand and go for it. The FSM might come in handy, too.

There's pretty much only one way to remove the dummy light. Pop the 4 clips out that retain the bracket behind it and take off the loctited nuts. You need to lay down and visually see the bracket, or you won't get the clips out easily.

Now for wiring it.... there are a lot of different ways depending on what you want. You can wire it at the front, or you can tap into your driver side tail light harness. There are other ways, too... check out the DIY section... picking the method is all up to you how you want it to function/what wiring you want to tap into.

I just did mine last week and wired it to the tail light harness. Wired it as a running light, and swapped the bulb with a 7443 bulb, and modified the bulb to use the dim filament so the light doesn't blind the people behind me in normal driving conditions.

Okay after 2 hrs I finally busted the old fake lens and butaned the locktite bolt and got it off. I put the new JDM fog light in and had to use a tie for bracket connected to bumper. The piece was too brittle and crumbled. Now please advise from this point.
1. Do I just plug/ play the female connector off the JDM to what is in the rear bumper?
2. What works that way? The kit came with a long wiring harness also..
I just want it on with the night driving lights --THANKS

Use the long harness and connect it to the taillight harness. The DIYs have the pin diagrams to use.

yah now i think you'll need to remove the trunk liner.

btw, those lamps are irritating bright for people behind you. i would not use it unless for foggy conditions.

I am reading some old threads and some 2009 car owners couldn't find the gray wire plug under the bumper? Then I guess the wiring hooks to the back light? Any links to these pics would be helpful. I went to DIY and get confused on which side are they pulling the interior. Is the wiring suppose to be in the middle. I would be afraid to hook it up front and cut that yellow wire. Is there a you-tube video? THANKS

yah, my 09 didnt have that harness. i wired a fresh wire to the center console where i have 3 rocker's.. one of them is hooked up to the fog lamp.

The connector pinouts in the FSM will tell you where a wire is located in the connector and what color it is. They even tell you which direction to look at the connector.
