Default Design flaw?

I have read that constant on/off of the xenon head lamps can drasticly shorten their life. I am not an AUTO head light fan. I prefer to start my car, put on my parking lights while I am getting ready, then go to headlamps. The only problem with this is, to do it my way, I first have to hit the auto head lamp spot on the stalk, which puts the xenons on for a quick sec, then they go back off when I get to the parking light spot. I think Nissan should have put the auto at the "end" of the settings on the stalk instead of the first spot. And if my memory serves me correctly, my dads 2000 Maxima was the way I feel it should be setup. Anyway.......just my opinion.
1st and Smashley like this.

Yes, this has been discussed. You are right about that, a flaw.

Yes, I have noticed this too.. I agree auto should have been last.. I just leave my headlights on all the time. They eventually shut off when the vehicle is left for a bit.. Then they don't come on until it's started again.

most turn signal switches have the normal options in the downward turn and the auto in the upward turn (starting from the off position). shoulda been this way.

Technology flaw as xenons are temperamental to begin with.

First thing I noticed about the Z (that I would change) when I bought it

I drive a grown up car, without child proof locks or auto seat belts, etc. Why would I need auto as my first light choice does seem incongruent.

Question

I was really hoping I could adapt this to the 370Z to solve the problem:

In Canada our lights are on all the time. Including the back lights. Nissan's way of adding day light running lights

It doesn't really bother me too much...i keep it on auto 24/7...and if it were to go, i'll just switch it to 6k.
