Porter Cable 7424XP Polisher

I just received mine today from ProperAutoCare. I can't wait to use it; however, I just applied polish and sealant a couple of weeks ago by hand, so it would be a wait to remove it and re-apply it with the machine. I think the best thing to do is wait till fall to do it all over again. But I don't know. I'm really curious to see how much better it will turn out. Therefore, I'm tempted to use it right away....hehe.

Does anyone have any experience with this polisher?

I have one and with proper use they work very well. If you just did it by hand, I would personally wait until you need to do it again. I assume the hand polish removed any hairline scratches and swirl marks...... if it did, no need to re-do it until it is needed again. The porter cable will speed up the process and make polishing a breeze. I still apply and remove my Meguires NXT tech wax sealant by hand, after the clay bar and porter cable polish. Since the finish on the 370 is new, and in great shape sans a few hairline scratches, I use Pinnacle XMT Ultra Fine Swirl Remover from Autogeek ..... works great and sets up the finish for the Meguiars.

Yeah, getting this polisher seemed like win-win. It safely removes minor to moderate imperfections without it itself causing any harm to the clear coat and paint.

i have the older model PC and it works great...sucks that i bought it like a month before the new model came out....

^^ Oh crap. I hate when stuff like that happens. But I'm sure they both work well and produce the same results. In the video I posted, they used the older model and it appears to be freakin awesome. I'm amazed at how good of a job it does. And best of all, it causes no harm to the paint/cc, and any fool, like myself can use.

the only difference is the casing and motor. it went from 3.5 amps to 4 amps

I need to get on the ball and order one of these, the PC have a better warranty than the Meguiars one too. I would use it now! Why wait? Practice getting that perfect result in the summer while its nice out.

^^ Mine took less than a week to arrive from the purchase date. Of course that all depends on your location.

You got pads and a backing plate for it right? The white pad it comes with is no good.

I just got a 7424xp a few weeks back, so far I've only used it for light polishing and waxing. It's so much quicker and easier to wax with a PC.

Well my PC is slightly different than the stock one. The company that I ordered from replaces the stock backing plate and pads with their own. I don't know if it's 'their own' their own but they replace them with better ones, they say. They also provide you with extra pads for a complete polish and wax/sealant job.

I don't know if you're refering to the stock or to this one. This is what I got.

Your set with that kit. I was referring to the white pad attached to the PC in your first post, you don't want to use that on your paint if you still had it.
