Default Other fobs interfering with key

I don't know if others have experienced this but it seems like my apartment garage fob is interfering with my Z key fob. My car will not sense the Z key within proximity, i.e. can't unlock/lock doors/hatch, display shows "No Key" sign.

I either have to separate the fobs or wave the Z key around inside the cabin to start my car, but only after a few tries. Is there any way to fix this? I know carrying the keys separately should fix the problem but I really prefer to have all my keys together on one key chain.

If you have the garage opener on your rearview mirror just use that to open the garage and ditch the fob.

I do have it but the condo's fob won't register on the rearview mirror. Apparently a lot of the Canadian condos are like that. (It worked perfectly fine with my house's garage).

Try wrapping the condo fob in Aluminum foil. If that fixes the problem, see if you can find a slip-on metal cover.

Or install an on/off switch on the condo fob.

If other people in your condo are having the same problem, petition the owners' association to install a system that is compatible with the mirror openers. Should just be a matter of changing the receiver, not the mechanical parts.

I don't think it's the receiver. The HomeLink mirror can't even detect the signal from the condo fob.

But I will definitely try that aluminum foil trick first. Thanks.

It sounds like the condo system uses a different protocol/frequency/&c than whatever Homelink "understands." If you can change the receiver on the condo system to something that Homelink can talk to the interference problem should disappear (plus you won't have to lug around the extra fob).

Ofc, if you are the only one in your condos that is experiencing the problem, it might be difficult to convince your fellow residents to spend the money for the change.
