Wow **** that guy!

At least he used paint. I had to remove paint one time and found a can of "spray paint" at Home Depot and it ate it like hydrochloric acid on someone's flesh. I said to myself I hope no kids ever find this stuff cause it will jack a cars paint to the sheet metal in 2 minutes flat.

Lacquer thinner is a good suggestion, else I suggest a good compound polish and wax will clear normal spray paints, as wont advise using any chemicals if you haven't done this before.

Or if you can just take it some detailer he can fix it will charge you but better then damaging the clear coat if you try yourself.

NEGATIVE on the lacquer thinnner! It will take off the clear coat and paint. As mr. kensan suggested, get a clay bar, some light polish and then wax; it will come right off with a little elbow grease.

Trust us on this. Please.

As someone who has detailed cars for 20+ years, claybar is the way to do this. Mothers yellow works pretty good for paint removal. Use a lot of lube in a spray bottle and break off chunks of the clay, kneading it frequently. If you drop the clay, toss it.

Few years ago a crew was painting the house 2 doors down from me with a spray gun on a windy day. Little drops of paint all over (I mean, covering) my Jeep. Took about 3 clay bars, but it all came off like it was never there.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! I'll try the clay bar tonight after work. I have Zaino clay bar at home but if that doesn't work I'll try the Mother's yellow. I think I'm going to run my car through the touchless carwash today at lunch since there's almost no daylight left after work these days.

The Zaino should work well (red, if I remember correctly). About the only one that won't work well is Clay magic (blue). It's not a very aggressive clay.

I tell you, I have spray painted a car, and I have taken it off with lacquer thinner. Multiple times, granted, on the same car (2007 Toyota PryUs) with no ill effects.

Most spray paint doesn't have the hardener or clear coat that automotive paint does

Thanks DE. If the clay bar doesn't work I'll try the lacquer thinner or maybe pay someone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the clay bar will do the trick though!!

Lacquer thinner is ok to use more like same as silicone remover, but if you read my post I suggested take it to a deatailer if OP doesn't know what he is doing. Anything either thinner, clay, compound polish if not done in right amount/way will damage the paint, unfortunately Nissan has one of the worst paints in the market

DE- a lot of you guys cried when i said try motorspray to remove tar (which i use all the time in my garage to clean and remove oils) and now you're throwing laquer THINNER in the mix and think you're gonna not get crap from people?

Lol, well, people say "Goof Off" is 100% safe to use on paint.

Lacquer thinner is broadly the same, so I don't see the fear



OP, it is use at your own risk. If you fùck it up, tell your insurance your car was vandalized, it'll get a respray anyways

Automotive clear coat is fairly chemical resistant as far as consumer grade chemicals are concerned. Any clear coat after the 90s is at least resistant to chemicals such as acetone, lacquer thinner, etc. just don't start soaking panels in them for prolonged periods of time and you'll be fine.

Considering how quickly most solvents evaporate you should be fine.

Well, I spent 4.5 hours tonight with a clay bar and I've made some progress but still have a long way to go. I'm down to the area where the paint is the thickest and have been using my fingernails through the clay to try to expedite the process a bit. I'm hoping that if I put any scratches in with my nails I'll be able to buff them out later.

As a reminder, here's what it looked like at the start:

I've used about 2/3 of my clay bar but I'm happy that I've at least made some progress and there's hope that I can get everything off and it will look decent with just the cost of a clay bar and several hours of my time.
