EPT Sealer for Cowling?

I had to replace my battery recently and can't get the passenger side windshield cowling trim piece to stay in place. I suspect the sealant strip inside is toast. Anyone know exactly what that stuff is and where to get it cheap? Is it just general moulding adhesive?

Is this something you can use mounting tape? If so, VHB 5952 is my go to tape to mount stuff.

if not, you can try 3M silicon sealant?

It doesn't really resemble mounting tape which is traditionally flat. If you look inside the cowling where the bottom of the windshield fits in you'll see what I mean. Service manual just states to replace with "EPT Sealant".

The sealant is not there to hold the cowl in place. Although it can if the clips are broken.

It's just EPT sealer. Ethylene - propylene terpolymer. You might be able to get it from a Nissan dealer. If not, it looks like Honda sells it.

There is one clip that is broken (not really the clip itself but the receiving slot near the center of the windshield), but it would have been that way since the day I got it used... and the cowling never seemed this loose before.

Knowing that the sealant strip isn't meant to actually hold the trim in place, I think I'll just put some Honda-bond or something similar which cleans up easily around the clip joints to hold it steady.
