The advantage with the buddy club vs Bride FO rails or the unlevel planted bases is that the buddy club rails for the left and right side are seperate. What this means is it can accomodate any width seat and isnt stuck with the max setting of whatever bracket/base is with the rails and brackets it comes with. (I hope everyone understands what im saying) it can easily be seen in the pics of the brackets
Ok gotcha, that's excellent. The only sad part is that you would lose those beautiful aluminum Status side mount brackets. Unless they would bolt up to the buddy club rails instead of the ones included and still give you the lower seating position....

Car scrapes floor, driver scrapes roof, sounds like a natural progression of modding

You mean the Status racing emblem on the side of the seat? If so that would still remain visible... Actually The buddy club brackets have a cool hologram chrome sticker on the rail that's visible that looks super hot

Default jay at vivid

Just a heads up to anyone ordering Status seats from Vivid Racing. if they claim to have Status seats available DO NOT buy them. I ordered a Standard Ring with a GT-X label on the side. I was like Wtf this is not what I ordered? So I called Jay up at Vivid and he tells me it def. is a Standard Ring and that is just mislabled. Not only was it mislabeled, it was a used seat. How do I know? There were scratshes around the mounting holes, a grease fingerprint on the cloth part of the side bolster, and get this; a quarter and a washer underneath the cushions! I mentioned the scratches and items left under the cushions and he replied with, "The seats are actually test fitted to make sure they are level. The quarter probably got there from someone in the shipping department sitting on the seat." Why in the world would anyone in the shipping department need to sit on any of the seats?

SO, I give Status racing a call to get a clarification on the dimensions of both standard and GT-X seats. I mention to an honest man named Collin the situation I was going through. Come to find out, Status and Vividracing are somehow the same company. Idk what it is but apparently their office is in the same building. He asked if I spoke to Jay and I said yes. The seat that Jay sold me was actually sitting up in the boss's office up for display; seated up against a brick wall. Idk if you guys consider a display item a used one, but I do. Especially if there are scratches and what not all over it. Collin was trying to sell it for $650 but had no luck. So Jay ends up selling it to me for $720.

I call Jay back and ask him about it, but he sticks with his story. So I'm just like whatever, I'm not going to bother arguing with him because I'll lose regardless since I'll have to pay for return shipping. I'm more upset about being lied to than anything.

Just in case anyone had any doubts. Not going to order anything from them anymore. And I actually need another Status seat for my passenger side. Going to order directly from Status from now on.

All aftermarket seats are weighted without brackets, most seats are lighter by a good margin than factory but once you throw on rails/brackets/etc you only shave a few pounds typically.

Also, if the seat is the wrong seat than what you ordered then they need to pay to have it shipped backed AND get you the correct seat. Also, if this one was used to display & let people who come into the shop/store test sit that is still "new" but should be sold as a display unit which typically goes for less than new. May not have been installed but since people sat, tested, and probably farted in the seat you need to challenge this.

If Jay sticks to his story that is fine, but move up the ladder at Vivid and try to speak with others about this situation. Also, Vivid invested in Status Seats a few years back (there is a thread on this forum about it), basically Vivid I think owns the majority share of Status now.

Vivid owns Agency Power and most of Status, so strike both those brands from your list. And the guy at the head of the ladder is a scumbag named Dan Mermelstein. There's no point going up the ladder, because the owner is a lying, scamming little weasel. He has been for well over a decade.

Ah, good to know.
I have heard they have had issues in the past but never knew much about it.

They robbed the Subaru community blind for years back when the WRX was new and rare. Sounds like they're still the same kind of guys.

Yeah I don't take side mounts or the base when I weigh seats. So it was legitimately ~17-18 lbs. The seat was actually a Standard Ring seat labeled GT-X. However, they gave me an expired FIA label. Any idea what I can do about that?

It's surprising how they can still be in business with customer service that terrible. :/
