I have seen people take it out, not sure anyone directly here, but not sure how they did it. I see no screws or anything, but they are probably underneath the covers in there which means we have to tear that stuff out.

I pulled that trim piece off popped the hinge pins out to remove the door and then installed two defi gauge pods in mine slightly slanted towards the driver, some sort of 1/4 din something will go under the gauges(I mounted the gauge pods to the top of the cubby so that they hang)
tommyguns likes this.

Prescription sunglasses are the only thing I can think of to put in there.

Since Oklahoma has so many turnpikes, a pike pass could fit in there so it's not being advertised to would-be-thieves.

FWIW, the center console lower area pulls out easily - where the 2nd "cup holder" is...

Mounted a Garmin 255W inside and wired 12vdc to it. Works out well and is kinda neat that you can just close the door and hide it. Even though I bought a touring, I purposely didn't get it with the nav package. Now that I'm older and don't total 'em every few years anymore, I keep cars for a long time. Electronics become obsolete in just a few years. The Z replaced a 21-year-old RX-7 (with a cassette deck!).
