Nissan 370Z Forum

Hi just acquired a used 370Z base

Is there any modification that can reduce the outside noise? When I drive I can hear anything from outside....maybe chnage the exhaust? I am in California. Any recommeded body shop?

1. It's a sports car... there will be noise

2. Sound deadening material (gt mat, dynamat, etc.)

I got GTMat's free sample (~9sqft) of the 37mil stuff and did most of the rear of my '09 Touring. It worked quite well (especially considering the price), but, if I had to do it over, I'd use the thicker stuff.

From what I can tell, a lot of the noise is coming from the rear shock towers. I suggest using extra damping material there and on the brace between the towers. Others have reported that adding damping material to the doors will help (supposed to also make the door speakers sound better).

Also check the weather seals on the doors, hatch, and windows. If they have shrunk or become misaligned, they can cause a lot of noise.

Tires can make a big difference. From what I've read, the stock tires are on the noisy end of the spectrum.
