I am getting those out to you soon. again I apologize for the problem. I had put the bolt on there and did not tightn it down the entire way. I made an assumption and it made me look like an XXX. If any one else needs new studs and bolts let me know and I will get those out to you at no charge since I made the mistake.

New thread size requires a 5/16" - 18 hex nut.

available at any autoparts store or hardware store for under $1.

Oh no! What a huge inconvenience!

(I'm kidding)
Seriously though don't beat yourself up. You basically came out of retirement to build these things for us at virtually no profit just because we asked. I'll swing by home depot in the morning.

what I did was go off of my old specs and because these uses a longer stud for ease of installation but this new company uses a different thread pitch. I put a bolt on there and it started just fine but I did not screw it all the way down. but now I know so any orders that go out from here on out will be right. thanks for understanding.

video is finishing up right now so I will post it if it works.

kellyefields 02-15-2013 04:53 PM

Youtube is the worst thing. I spent the last hour trying to upload and it gets to the end and tells me it is to long and I have to verify before posting such a long video I do that and then it deletes the video. WTF!!!! so I am now uploading for the second time. Going to a movie with the wife and let it do its thing and will post the link when I get home. here is the link that it says it will be at in 120 min!!! http://youtube/KAjcPt2JBvY so we will see it that works.

all orders shipped out. I have 6 left from this buy. I have fixed the bolts so those are no longer an issue. if anyone has any questions let me know. Probably wont be doing another one of these for a while so get them while they last.

Mr&Mrs 02-16-2013 11:37 AM

dmhenderson 02-16-2013 02:43 PM

Picked up the correct nuts at home depot. It was like $.30. 5/16-18 is definitely the correct size. Off to install tomorrow.

NitrousZ34 02-18-2013 06:44 AM

Got it Kelly. Thank you for the fast shipping! Hopefully I'll have time to install these bad boys tomorrow.

I am glad they liked it. the real question is do you like it.

only 5 sets remaining!!!

dmhenderson 02-18-2013 07:03 PM

Yes. It's what I wanted when I got into the market for a hood damper kit after a stiff breeze blew my hood off its prop at Autozone and the hood smacked into my forehead and knocked me silly.

dont you know better than doing car maintenance during a hurricane!!! I am glad you like it. Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

dmhenderson 02-18-2013 07:17 PM

It wasn't a hurricane by any stretch - that hood is super light.

KeVoH 02-20-2013 10:44 AM

kellyefields 02-20-2013 11:31 AM

Any tips to get rid of the bulge? I have hood bulges on both sides and I went so far as to remove the plastic and I still get it.

dmhenderson 02-21-2013 01:29 PM

Really hoping you installed something wrong. Anyone else having a problem with this kit?

Mine isn't back from the shop (other stuff being done) so I haven't seen it yet.

If you removed the plastic and still get a bulge there is something wrong. where did you install the bracket on the hood. it should be the center bolt. 2. did you have the car on stands or on a jack? the car has to be level before closing the hood. can you take any pics of the issue. I am here to help so let me know what is happening and I will walk you through the solution.

TerribleONE 02-21-2013 02:40 PM

Mine arrived hope to throw it on soon! Thanks again

NitrousZ34 02-21-2013 04:42 PM

One of my struts shattered when i closed the hood down. I got the hood closed, a couple seconds later i just hear a loud pop and the bottom of the strut was broken off.

Install was a breeze, it took more time finding my tools than it did putting these things on. Checked everything several times before I attached the struts, hood opened and went down fine. I don't know how the strut would have snapped like it did.

BeemaaZ 02-21-2013 05:40 PM

Just received the package from Kelly :happydance:

I will post installed picture later

LMBmikeZ 02-21-2013 06:12 PM

Got mine in the mail today  going to post office to pick it up tomorrow or saturday :happydance:

Thanks again :tiphat:

sent you a pm. I will get you a new one out in exchange for the shattered one.

dmhenderson 02-21-2013 07:06 PM

Any idea what went wrong? User error or just a faulty strut?

In for updates. I will let you know after I installed mine tonight.

Nut_N_Much 02-21-2013 08:12 PM

:eek:Most likely the new manufacturer! I have an older kit on my car and have had no issues for the last year 1/2:tup:.

:shakes head:Man that sucks. I can tell you Kelly is pissed and will make it right with you and the vender of that part. The he is a stickler for details, backs up his kits 100%.

dmhenderson 02-21-2013 08:15 PM

Could be just one faulty part. It happens.
