dmhenderson 02-08-2013 06:12 AM

I think it's just first come first serve on the 8 kits remaining.

Gauge 02-08-2013 09:40 AM

dm can you toss me down as a definite

dmhenderson 02-08-2013 09:41 AM

haha I'm not managing this, I'm just cheerleading. PM Kelly and he'll take your order.

kellyefields 02-08-2013 11:10 AM

Estimated delivery :
Mon 2/11/2013
Lithia, FL
US:tup:

if this holds true I will be able to get these out by wed/thursday morning and with priority mailing most of you will see these in 3-5days.

remember first come first serve. I have at last count of those that have paid about 8 left.

kellyefields 02-09-2013 08:23 PM

alright parts will be here monday, I will be shipping those that have ordered already on tuesday. I also have something special that I am including with them. I found a way to hold the hood at a lower level for those that want their hood lower for shows and stuff. it is not attached so you will have to keep it in your car but you just have to place it on the shaft to get that lower look if wanted. it will come unpainted so you can paint it black to match the strut or go with color if wanted, just a thank you for placing an order. ;)

I currently have 8 left if someone wants to jump in before shipping on tuesday 12 Feb.

Nut_N_Much 02-10-2013 07:17 AM

I installed this kit in 15min. I love it.. Easy to put in, and functional with no hood bulge. Very well thought out..

The install video is a little strange :icon14: but its right on...

:worship:

Jasonle 02-10-2013 10:09 AM

Man...I need this for my hood! hmmm

LMBmikeZ 02-10-2013 12:00 PM

Sent my payment the other day  :excited:

To be clear: My goal here wasn't to start a pissing contest. I had a Z1 kit ready to purchase until Pintsize said she had issues with it warping her hood on the drivers side and had to uninstall them so I started looking for alternatives. At a MAZOC meet, one of the cars that showed up (I think it might have been xXXChrisXXx) had Kelly's hood damper kit and I really liked what I saw.

I tracked down Kelly on the forums and begged him to build me a set and he asked me to help drum up interest so that he can at least break even on the kits by selling more than just mine. Like literally bugged him until he agreed to make me a set. I think it took 3-4 PMs.

Basically, the guy was doing me a favor. If you have the Z1 kit and are happy with it, great. Several people *have* complained about it kit and Kelly's kit is just another way to go. I'm making no money off of this and Kelly is making very little (if any) so please stop acting like this is some sort of scam.

First off, no one is "acting like this is some sort of scam." I've read all the threads and acknowledge that some folks are having problems with the struts - Z1's and others. I think it is an issue with manufacturing tolerances involving the hood and fenders. None of my friends here have complained about fitment issues. That doesn't mean they don't exist.

The only reason I posted was to point out that NOT everyone is having problems with Z1 struts.

I think Kelly is a great guy. He saw a need, engineered a solution, and shared it. Whether he makes a nickel a set or $100 is none of my business or concern. I hope he is making something to compensate for the the time he has put in.

It's good to see that he is willing to take more time out to help fellow Z owners. :tiphat:

kellyefields 02-11-2013 07:16 PM

gurneyeagle thanks for the great guy post. I appreciate knowing that people appreciate me helping out.

On to business. the parts arrived today and I quality checked them and they are the best yet. This new company did right by us. I have made the small modification needed to bolt the bracket to the hood and they are all packed up in the back of the wifes car ready for her to take them to the post office tomorrow. she will get a delivery confirmation number I will be able to send to those in the us. Sorry for the Canada folks they dont do delivery confirmation but I will put in paypal that they have shipped and add the delivery confirmation number for in the US.

I currently have 8 sets left ready to ship when orders are placed so if you are interested you will get them within a week depending on where you are located.

Even though I provide a detailed install sheet I will also be doing another install video with CHPT11 this friday and will post it here for all to see. He has a new 2013 and this will be the first time the hood struts will be going on so you will be able to see how it is done and will be walked through any steps to correct any problems if they occur. I will do one side and turn it over to him so you can see that this can be done by anyone that gets this. Also of note if you have any issues you can always PM me and I will send you my phone number and I will help you dignose any issues which with this set I do not forsee any issues with from what I can tell from checking these struts.

Again I only have 8 sets remaining and since I front the cost of these I cannot do another build until I have at least 10 committed buyers and with that comes a longer wait.

Great. Please make sure mine gets to Maryland by Saturday! If you need me to pay more for shipping, please let me know. I know your margins aren't great.

there should be no problem in you getting them unless the weather delays the mail or by some act the post office looses them. I have never had this happen but I am knocking on wood right now just to be on the safe side.

Have 7 sets left. Due to shipping costs to canada going up all orders from here on out shipped out of the us would be 110 plus paypal fees. I will eat the cost for those that have already ordered but from here on out I must charge what it costs me to ship them.

all orders placed by yesterday shipped today. Another shipping day will be this thrusday.

Mitco39 02-12-2013 07:41 PM

I have no trouble covering the added cost of having to ship it up here :D

Thanks again for doing this.

dmhenderson 02-13-2013 09:59 AM

Some of the MD Z club people might want these (not MAZOC). I said I'd throw up an add on their site if you want to provide me with a video or something.

I just don't want the guy to get the short end on this and end up paying out of pocket when he is already hooking us up

It will be up friday for all to see.

MX52Z 02-13-2013 11:11 AM

Does the base of this kit (fender) require cutting the stock rubber seal like the Evo-R kit?

no it does not. if you go to your car and look at where the battery cover towards the front there is a black plastic pop rivit. Remove that and look through the hole and you will be able to see the top of your tire. this kit comes with a post with a ball on top of it that you place through that hole and bolt down from underneath. then you remove one bolt on the hood hinge and place the bracket on there and replace the bolt. once that is done you position the strut between the two ball posts and press into place. Repeat on the other side, remove the original hood prop and throw away and you are done.

NitrousZ34 02-13-2013 09:06 PM

Payment Sent! Thank you

dmhenderson 02-13-2013 10:15 PM

Not going to offer these to the Md Z club folks unless you get stuck with kits I guess. They still seem to be selling.

if there is enough interest I would go ahead and order more for them.

dmhenderson 02-14-2013 07:01 AM

Ok. Same prices still apply for domestic shipping?

if they are all in the same area if one person wants to be the one to receive them they could save on the shipping. If I know how many I can get an idea on how much the shipping would be probably save each person at least 5.

dmhenderson 02-14-2013 09:23 AM

Yeah if anyone bites, I'll just have them delivered to the club President and he can distribute at a meet.

dmhenderson 02-14-2013 09:25 AM

Can you post pictures of the kit or a video or something so I can post the ad? I don't think it'll get much attention unless I can show people what they're getting.

BeemaaZ 02-14-2013 09:31 AM

Kelly, the YouTube video sold me! Send me your detail please. Thanks!

will have the video up friday with me and chpt11 on a car that has never been touched so everyone can see what we do and how to install it without any problems.

dmhenderson 02-14-2013 03:06 PM

Ran home today to "set up" for valentine's and lo and behold, my hood damper kit was on the front porch. That was fast.

Thanks!

good. let me know if you have any problems. I will have a new video posted tomorrow evening.

dmhenderson 02-14-2013 03:52 PM

I'll post an ad on the MD Z club site once you have it up. I'm going to let the body shop install his weekend since I have to drop it off to get my wheel fixed anyway.

kellyefields 02-15-2013 12:02 PM

guys that I already shipped to do not use the niloc bolts that I sent for some reason they are to small and will strip the ball bolt. go out to your local hardware store and take your ball post and find the bolts that will work with them. for some reason the thread pattern is different than I first thought. they are only 60 cents if that. I will send anyone a set if they want me to or I can refund you 1 dollor on paypal if you want. I will explain this better on the video. If you have already broken the ball let me know and I will send you another set asap. I do apologize for the mix up on the bolts.

LMBmikeZ 02-15-2013 12:18 PM

 appreciate the heads up! I am looking forward to getting mine sometime next week :happydance:
