Default Touring Seat Installation Help - No power or Heat!

So, I swapped my base cloth seats for leather touring seats a few months ago. The wiring for the touring seats was in place under the seat, but no power was coming out of the positive wire connectors. I tried adding the "heated seat" relay under the hood and adding a fuse for every empty slot in the fuse box hoping that would help, but no dice. Therefore I ended up adding a power wire from the battery to each of the seats temporarily until I had more time to work on it.

Also, I purchased the OEM heated seat switches, but when I pull up the center console and cup areas to install the heated seat switches, there is no wiring for these switches! I pulled back the carpeting as well to see if they were hiding, but no luck.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this installation? I've checked on courtsey nissan's website to see if their is a wiring harness I'm missing, but I don't see anything?

THANK YOU!

Do you have a copy of the FSM? it should have a wiring diagram which would prove invaluable.

yup, I've got the service manual... still haven't been able to track down the wiring pieces I'm missing. Here is what I have found thus far, it's listed as a console sub harness, but it looks like its for the ipod plug, not the heated seat switch:

That sub-harness is connected to the inside key antenna (and, it appears, the iPod jack, but I'm not sure). It may also be connected to other stuff in the console - I didn't dig too deep.
There is also a FSM section on seats (SE), but I didn't see anything useful on a Q&D look.

My _guess_ is that you are missing at least one harness (from what I have read, Nissan doesn't include the rear fog lamp harness if the lamp is not installed) and possibly the seat heater relay (behind the center dash).

If you need help interpreting the wiring diagrams, I may be able to give you some hints.

So when I pull the seats out of my car to put in my wifes:

Can I pull out all of the harness I need for everything to work?

If I do will it effect anything else in my car in a negative way?

Thanks I will dish out some rep for answers!

You should be able to remove any harnesses between the console and seats, except for the one(s) going to the seat belt buckle switches, air bags, and passenger weight sensor. Ie, unless you want the dash to light up, you will need most, if not all, of the harnesses. I will try to check the wiring diagrams later today to verify (if you don't hear back by ~10PM Central US, poke me).

Well, my big chore for today was cancelled, so I did some digging through the FSMs. Here's what I found:
Referencing 2009 FSM SE-5, SE-8, SE-11, SE-23, SBC-10, SBC-16, and SRC-157, I see nothing that will affect vehicle operation (other than warning lights) if the seat connectors are unplugged.

A visual inspection of my 2009 Touring (includes electric seat warmers) indicates that there is just one, "medium-sized" harness running from the console to each seat. These harnesses branch off under the seats to go to seat position/recline switch and such.

My conclusion is that you can remove the console/seat harnesses, assuming the connectors in the console don't contain pins with other circuits (I can research that, but it's a PITA), but you will trip seatbelt, SRS, and maybe other alarms. If all else fails, there may be enough room in the console to allow you to tuck the harnesses in there.

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert - check the FSMs or a qualified technician before performing any modifications.

My 2012 was prewired, to see if you have the wiring you can pop the cup holder and you will see 2 plugs for the heated switch wiring and under the seat if u look there is an extra plug not being use. If you have these then the car is pre wired. The only thing I didn't confirm was if the relay was actually there but since there is power going to the seats, should be working.....

I told OP that posted this, he will just need to use a relay and wire it straight to battery....

If you can mount the seat belt buckle assemblies to the new seats, that should take care of that warning. Somewhere on this site, there is a DIY explaining how to use resistors to get around the air bag warning. There is also a DIY on removing the passenger weight sensor and installing it in a new seat - requires upholstery work, so that's out of my league - but I can't remember if it is on this site.
