Default Weighted Shift Knob Installed

I installed a TWM weighted shift knob from Canada, it's made a huge difference in shifting quality. This thing weighs 1.32 pounds! and is a bit shorter then the stock set up. I was running the Nismo one previously, which IMO is way too light, I use to mis-shift 1st to 2nd b/c of the effort it took to move it. Now I have no problems. I will upgrade to a short throw shifter later on, but I'm pretty satisfied for now. This would be a great edition to a short throw shifter. The model I got was the Desert Eagle & the color Is gun blue finish, which is actually more of a satin black.

Look through some other posts about changing out your shift knob. All of them look like this when they remove it because they put so much damn locktite on the OEM shift knob that you have to just grab hold with a wrench or vice-grips and give it your all.

Yup...Pretty much count on trashing the stock knob to get it off...

Yep, after many attempts with a radiator hose and vice grips, that's what I did and even then, it was still hard to unthread. Just make sure that you have someone help you so that you can hold the shaft with another set of vice grips.
You will be putting a lot of torque on it and don't want that transmitting through the stick down to the tranny.

There's probably no way on earth to remove the stock shift knob without damaging it, and it sucks because there is people around interested on buying it. I tried socks, shirt, a rubber strap, etc. and still the shiftknob looks all beaten up. But at the end, it makes you feel even better about your new shift knob, not matter how much you payed for it.

I want to reuse the stock knob with my short throw.

Good Luck, very slim chance you can get it off without damaging it

That really sucks. I might have to see if I can get a factory replacement then before I do the install. I don't like the feel of metal shifters.

Screw it. Decided I hate the stock knob.

How hot does that thing get?

Someone in another thread stated that they were going to remove the shifter with their bare hands. I hope he posts a video.

That was me. I already said no video because it would likely capture something embarrassing.

I'm sure I'm going to end up mauling it, so that's why I'm trying to order a new knob before I attempt an install. I think I'm going to go for a Voodoo Pearl knob like the one Modshack posted in another thread.

I need to order soon so I can have everything for this weekend.

I heard stories like this with the 350 as well, funny thing is, mine (the 350), came right off easily, haven't tried to remove this one though.
