Has anyone here used the metallizer yet? Trying to figure out if it's like silver color with metallic flakes or if it goes on clear with metallic flakes in it. I want to use it with the gunmetal to give it a metallic finish, but if it's silver in color than it will cover up the gun metal.

I was actually thinking about making a clay mold to push into the nissan emblem. that way I spray everything one color, put the mold in and peel around it. Then leave the mold in and spray it all again. This should in theory give the perfect cut. Making the clay mold would be tough though. Might have to ask my wife for help on it.

no offense taken. :tiphat:

You could just get the black plasti and spray whatever color you want over it.

^^^^Whoa I think u went a lil over board with that masking job, jus to be doing that side emblem! Jk man it came out really well.

Side note to those interested in doing their handles it holds up extremly well rain or shine. I was hesitant about doing the handles also but I'm glad I went ahead and did it. My car lives outside for the time being, jus be sure to clean and prep them well I used rubbing alcohol with q-tips. Make sure u spray the inside where your fingers grab otherwise eventually it will start to peel off inside. But that's to be expected it's a $5 dollar mod, hope this helps! :tiphat:

Just a FYI if you don't want to get some of the better paint prep solevents there are better common solevents than isopropanol - methanol will leave less residue than isopropanol. Ethanol is the best of the alcohols - the use it in our calibration lab where they can't have any residue on the equipment under test in the physical properties lab.

Just ordered the metalizer wheel kit from their website. Going to do my wheels in that gunmetal (black+ silver metalizer) color and then do my roof gloss black.

Oh yea. I'm going to do my FJ in this.

I just ordered three cans of the glossifier. I'm going to try it on my roof for that glossy black look.

Maybe you could try taking a photo of the emblem, printing it to scale and the cutting a mask out of it - so you'd have the perfect guide.

I like the result and would probably try if I didn't have a black car :)

I need a little help with blacking out my fangs. I did the rear valance yesterday and it came out awesome. I put it on in a thick coat and while it was wet I pulled the tape and it left a crisp line.
Now for the front I tried the same but when I pulled the tape it had dried enough that it pulled some plasti dip off with it. Now I have to clean it off and start all over again.

I am looking for some tips for doing the fangs.

Should I just put three thin coats, let it dry fully and use a new razor blade to lightly cut the plasti dip?
Or is there a better way?

Thanks

About to try this stuff on my emblems today now that the weather is nice...As pathetic as it may sound, I'm scared to death lol! Even though I've read all the posts and watched the DIY video there's just something about spraying black paint on my white car thats a bit nerve-racking! Ha!

Just make sure you mask generously and you should be fine. :tiphat:
