None of the local places are stocking the glossifier yet, but I found some and ordered it online. When it comes I will get pics up ASAP of the results.

Nice, can't wait to see how it works out

If you can, try having a glossy section next to a non-glossy section and take a pic of it. That would be the best way to compare.

Synack 12-08-2011 11:04 AM

Might have to re-do my wheels if the glossy turns out good.

Cool! I want to do my Z's roof gloss black. Tried with plasti dip and clear coat in the summer, but that experiment failed. Hopefully this will work a lot better :icon17:

kdo2milger 12-08-2011 01:21 PM

hmmm...going to give this a go on the emblems this weekend

cycy89 12-09-2011 01:11 PM

I have CF wrap for my front emblem and SEIBON front lip. the CF wrap shrinks when it gets really cold.. :ughdance:. I think I'm gonna use gloss black for side skirts and rear to match the CF front lip (can't afford CF parts at the moment..). any news on gloss plasti dip? and do they have brilliant silver plasti dip?

cycy89 12-09-2011 01:27 PM

Got my front clip done. Will have pics later this week. Waiting on some other things.

So how well do this product hold up when washing you car? Do you have to apply lighter pressure when washing?

i took mine to a car wash and pressure sprayed a few passes, then took it thru the auto wash bay and no peeling issues as of yet...

So, after few weeks of dirty weather with rain. White plastidip is not so good. Really easy to catch dirt and almost impossible to ge dirt of, due to fact, that it's texture.

But on wheel with another coat of white color and some gloss over white PlastDip, it resist a lot better. But it has similar problem like another wheels with so easy to scratch PlastiDip.

So after tyre change wheels have scuff marks in plasti dip.

I have scrubbed my Plasti Dipped areas before. It holds up extremely well. The only thing I would refrain from doing is hitting the "Dipped" area with a power washer. Its a very durable product. Put it this way, I creamed a deer at 45-50 mph and that didnt even blow any of the "Dip" off my front bumper.

WHATEVER YOU DON'T GET OTHER PRODUCTS ON THE DIPPED SURFACE!

I sprayed my "tire shine" on my dipped rims just to see if it would shine em up a lil.....UM NOPE the dipped bubbled and now has started to flake off. (which ok by me cuz I plan to pwdrct them this winter anyway) Not sure this is gonna happen to every tire shine product but if you spent a lot of time dipping your rims it may be something you wanna watch out for.

PS I will post pics of the gloss ASAP, I probably should of thought ahead and had the black on my beater test hood before it showed up. You'll just have to wait a day or two more. ;)

if your using plastidip spray then no need to remove door handles

just mask off the area around them and spray...watch the video on the first page it will explain what im saying and youll know what to do.

cjeezy 12-16-2011 09:13 PM

Anyone use this overtop of a clear bra? If so, any concerns when the Plasti Dip was removed (ie: does it pull off the bra, stain the bra etc). Was thinking about spraying my fangs, but they're bra'd.

No need to do that. One of my friends did that recently and he was able to just peel it away and it left a nice clean line. If i can find the video he posted on face book I'll try to link it.

How distracting! You said "bra" three times and made it difficult for me to cocentrate. ( o)(o )
:bowrofl:

Skeeterbop 12-16-2011 10:36 PM

Well, I can't find video (might not have taken it, i can't remember) but here is a pic I took of said door handle. We masked it off using tape and some newspapers to help reduce over spray (any overspray is easily wiped off).

^ Looks perfect.

Skeeterbop 12-17-2011 08:13 PM

Here is a pic taken while it was masked off. You can slide the tape up between the door handles and the body to help make it even easier.
--edit--
Ooops forgot to put the pic in

haitech 12-29-2011 12:15 AM

skeeterbop did you use the gloss or just plain plasti dip?

SPOHN 12-29-2011 05:27 AM

Got my rear section taped of yesterday. Going to paint it after work today.

Has anyone had issues with Plasti Dip around the exhaust area? The exhaust tips can get hot.

You will have absolutley NO problem with heat effecting it on the rear section. Ive had mine done since summer and my Z is my DD. The Plasti Dip on the rear looks the same as the day I applied it.

SPOHN 12-29-2011 06:55 PM

I got it done but do dark to take pics.

skeeter took the pics and video for me. I did the paint... it was just standard plasti dip... it was eight thick coats.... to allow full filling and to make it easier if needing to be removed/redone

I'll post more pics

Here are a few pics of the plasti dipping I've done. Skeeterbop has been there for alot of it and he's posted some of the pics... here is what he was missing. with me, the Plasti Dip Picaso at the end.... lol....

I'll tell you what though, having a lift... makes it VERY easy to get the front and rear diffusers done... lol

scionide 01-01-2012 03:03 PM

^ how did you remove the extra spray on the sides of the rear diffuser? lightly cut with a razor blade or something?

A very steady hand and an exacto knife. I wouldn't let Michael J Fox do it for you. I did it eye level so the angle wasn't odd or hard for me to get. *I cheated using a lift* >=) but just score along the angle break in the diffuser and make sure you're lite on the blade. Going too deep will go into your paint. If you were in EP I'd offer to help.

Guys that did your wheels did you also do the inside of the wheel. In another words did you do the inside edge of the wheel (where wheel weights go)also or just the outside area you see when just looking at wheel straight on.
