I've had a rattle/scratching sound come from the hatch of my Z. Drove me nuts. It wasn't from that dampener though. I took off that cover and was prying around and preyed/adjusted the clip on the right side of the hatch that the wing pops thru and Holds. This eliminated my noise for the most part. I think something between my spoiler and the hatch is rubbing but for now the only time it makes it is when my cars been sitting in the sun for awhile and it's not enough to make me want to take my spoiler off to fix it unless it gets bad again.
