Default stock hood and vents

Hello
I recall reading it in this forum about a vendor that would modify your stock hood??? therefore keeping the fitments original alignment but with vents on the side.

Anyone recall reading about this? Pricing was pretty good too with your stock hood as trade in.

thanks

350z guys have been modifying their hood with vents for awhile now, you guys could do the same thing if you have a template to work with.

Here is an example, as well as the template that people use:

Isn't 350z hood metal instead of aluminium which looses the point of modding stock. As int case I was thinking modding aluminium hood will be same in weight as those normal CF one selling

To OP Carbon signal did the hood for me infect they do all kind of custom jobs. You can pm them

Dry carbon fiber is lighter than our stock hood, weight is about the same and then fiberglass with CF wrap is a little heavier.
You can easily modify the stock hood similar to the 350z, but just have to make sure it follows the lines.

yeah but majority of people dont buy dry carbon ones, and hoods like Seibon are CF/fiberglass mix heavier then stock.

The hood on a 350z just like a 370z is aluminum and already very light from the factory, CF is barely a weight difference.

It's not very complicated if the wanted to modify his own hood at all.

You have me interested, do you guys think it would be difficult to modify a stock hood and give it vents as follows? Is this something a quality bodyshop could do?

Your only issue is the design of the hood supports underneath but yeah anyone can do it.

I was toying with the idea of adding the OEM GT-R vents to a stock hood, but I'm not brave enough

Here is what it looks like on a G35

I REALLY like that, pretty much exactly what I am looking for. I wonder if my body guy is good enough to do it, if not I wonder what it would cost to have done, and if someone on the forums could/would do it...

You just need a good cutting tool (dremel-type) and maybe some silicone and it's straightforward from there.

If my car wasn't my daily driver I would have cut my own vents a long time ago but I'm just not a fan of all the dirt in the engine bay that a cut hood causes for DD'ing
