in the world of Spoilers / Wings

What would people say is one of the better looking ones?

Im thinking of something more towards a wing.

So far i like the Voltex GT 3 and Voltex HB.

will the last pic fit our z's?

Mike 06-07-2011 09:54 PM

If it works, I'd go with the lower profile one on the bottom.

007MI6 06-07-2011 10:05 PM

My :twocents::
1) :barf:
2) The lesser of two evils for me. Could actually look good.:tiphat:

Econ 06-07-2011 10:27 PM

of those two i like the second.

what about the esprit wing. I am actually considering buying this and making it a little shorter. however i like the shape of it.

or the varis:

Liquid_G 06-07-2011 10:40 PM

I love Varis parts.. my friend has a complete Varis setup on his EvoX. But the rear wing that Varis makes is just plain fugly for our cars.

Liquid_G 06-07-2011 10:44 PM

This is member rozenre's car on here.

Voltex... absolutely love that..

phelan 06-07-2011 11:18 PM

amuse...? :p

dP3NGU1N 06-07-2011 11:37 PM

From a functionality standpoint wouldn't the first wing create more downforce and allow you to see out of your rear view while most other spoilers tend to mess with FOV?

nismo 1234 06-08-2011 12:15 AM

i like the first one. i think the pic that liquid_G posted is a voltex type 3 wing. i also like ing+1 z power wing:)

XwChriswX 06-08-2011 01:39 AM

I'm going with the Ings+ spoiler myself, it looks the best as a happy medium for those not planning to full up race, but something better than the stock lip spoiler. And since nothing aftermarket has come out to give it a good competition, the cost is sadly accepted.

bullitt5897 06-08-2011 07:17 AM

Personally, I like my little monster... :D

APR is by far the BEST BANG FOR YOU BUCK! spoiler... Both Mike and Myself run them. I run the big brother APC-500 series and Mike runs the APC-300 series which isnt as wide and a little shorter. I believe I am on 6" or 8" risers.

I agree with you about ings. But that cost is purdy high. Thats why i was searching for perhaps an alternative. Ive been looking quite a bit at whats available for the lotus cars

RCZ 06-08-2011 08:31 AM

Love that Voltex wing because its completely functional.

Econ 06-08-2011 09:20 AM

i feel like you need some serious HP/track orientation to back up any of the above spoilers.

on a side note i really want the LP670 wing, but its like 15k

and the Voltex wings (or any gt wing for that matter) does?

:ugh2:

kenchan 06-08-2011 11:53 AM

the only time i would consider such GT wing is if im hitting the track like Mike. on his car outfitted with track gear it looks good and well balanced.

GT wings on street cars... imho, it's too big, over done, too rice. :ugh2:

Astrosfan 06-08-2011 12:10 PM

I think the aerodynamic properties of this wing make it an acceptable candidate for hauling rice

vividracing 06-08-2011 01:01 PM

Is this for show or are you actualy needing an adjustable wing because you are tracking your car at so many diffrent tracks?

daisuke149 06-08-2011 02:49 PM

well my thoughts are this.

i like the INGS because it isnt so huge. But it still functional. It also looks good on the car.

I do not plan to track my car extensively, but once its all said and done i do plan to track it maybe 3 times a year on average. Mountain drives I dont think necessarily warrant one so im not gonna really count those.

On the same thinking, its why i was looking at the Lotus wings. they arent as big or wide, and they curve a bit more which would follow the z body lines better (in theory, until i could try to line them up).

its not a necessity, but just something in consideration.

kenchan 06-08-2011 03:06 PM

daisuke- it's up to you but 3x a year is hardly any track time... and what kind of speeds are you seeing at this track? chances are your stock wing will work just as well...(?)

so it will be only for appearance. it's your car so you do wat you want but from a performance stand point it's overkill. :) i would work on your suspension and tire setup instead especially since you can get regular mountain driving time every weekend. :p

daisuke149 06-08-2011 03:13 PM

full suspension is on.. EDIT: i wont be tracking on the forged specialties. But have arrangements for track wheels/tires when absolutely needed.

one main reason for consideration is looks. With the stance that the wide wheels/tires have, and the tinted tails, black valance, the oem sport spoiler just doesnt cut it anymore. so im already looking at a replacement spoiler and thus considering all options.

But then if I can find something that is functional vs pure looks why not. Even if it helps me out 3 times a year why not if it can also look good. But thats the trouble.. finding something that i absolutely love. So far, thats a no : /

damn sounds like you got a serious machine.

yah, if your car's theme is for tracking i think the GT wing will finish the look.

Econ 06-08-2011 04:18 PM

i personally like the GT wings on the right car, however be prepared for a lot of Ricer Comments

i understand and yeah appreciate the warning.

but truth be told, one reason for this thread is maybe someone knows of a wing that i just dont know of yet. and i may just love it. and if i do, it wouldnt really matter what other people say : ) As long as i love it. But that also means im not just gonna throw a wing im merely simply satisfied with.

But i am looking for something different than the sports spoiler.

for one, they are 1 of a few sets of wheels i have

second, Bugatti, Lambo, Porsche, Ferrari, Koenigsegg all offer wheel colors other than black/silver/gray

most people are too self conscious to sport them however.

:)

and OP, i completely agree with your reasoning (i think the sports spoiler is ehh), and think you should just go for a big wing if thats what you really want.

you could always change it.

SPOHN 06-08-2011 06:49 PM

I'm asking for the Ings+1 this Christmas. I feel it's the best wing out there. Not to over the top. It is a little costly. But well designed IMO.

Alot of people can't get over wings for some reason. I see nothing wrong with them on our cars or any true sports cars for that matter. I like styling also. Even if you don't track, what's the big deal? That's why I choose the Ings wing, it's milder compared to the bigger ones. Which most who have the bigger wing see more than there share of track time. I'd have one of those if I tracked alot.

2ndChance 06-08-2011 07:43 PM

If a wing on a 330hp RWD sports cars is rice, then tell me what's not, because I cannot think of anything.

What's next? F1 cars are also rice because they have too many vents and deflectors and a huge frontal wing?

the arguement that a wing on a car regardless of whp when not being used is rice.

aka a wing on a car that never goes above 30mph... may have 600whp and its still unnecessary.

tommyguns 06-08-2011 08:45 PM

This will be my choice when I make the move.

Does any one know if the seibon nismo spoiler is functional? Not the s type.... but the spoiler that looks similar to the one that comes on nismo Z's?

thanks. still cant get a good look at those side skirts tho!!! i liked the way the rear diffuser looked from the side and front angles... really hating it from the rear though. looks like a mustache. i have seen the front lip before, liking it better on the black, more than when i had previously seen it.
