And some drive to the track. But your saying if you saw it on the the street you would cringe. Maybe there headed that way. Point is it's there when you need it. Just like my brake pads. I don't get full use out of then daily but they are there when I need them.

I cringe when I see a wing on a FWD car. Now that's pointless.

Red__Zed 08-04-2011 09:37 AM

No need to get so defensive here guys. Functional wings are rice, just deal with it. Installing non matching rims is pure class though.

TongMan 08-04-2011 09:44 AM

Last I checked, non matching rims are functional too...am I wrong?

True they arent "needed" on the street. But then our cars themselves arent needed for the street either. we should all go buy a honda fit or something.

I see, now quoting speed limits, (roads here, non highway go up to 60, and some highways are 70). If you quote speed limits, you better be damn sure you never speed yourself.

Ding, that is what matters.
I agree wings are designed for functional track use, but does not mean they cannot be used elsewhere for style.

SPOHN 08-04-2011 09:57 AM

I love the style of them also. Also I love hot wings too.

So, that means it's "rice" then, right? Racing Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement? Just like all those Honda Civics with huge down force wings are rice.

Not even close, I am say a properly built wing is function over form but can add style to a car.
I am not getting in the debate about it being rice or driving it on the street.

no it means that people are gonna do what they wanna do.

and people are gonna think something is rice just because they think its the popular way to categorize an item.

Your car is rice. Because your driving a "sports car" on the street. Go buy a honda fit if you dont wanna be rice.

Absurd right? but kind of not as our car is a racing inspired car.

And im from the land of rice. Therefore i claim that my statements about rice hold true over anyone elses.

SPOHN 08-04-2011 10:15 AM

I guess my oil cooler, sways, coilovers, and other mods are rice.

so are your brakes. and that front chin spoiler. and the front air deflectors in front of the wheels.

The Roof line is rice also, they could have just made it flat.

The aluminum hood is rice also, why worry about weight.

P.S lower your rev limiter to 5k, theres no need for that peak power. its rice.

daisuke149 08-04-2011 10:18 AM

P.S there are only 2 things that are actually Rice.

That should be your signature!

Jjaden 08-04-2011 10:22 AM

I guess my definition of Rice would be something that makes your car ugly to 90% of the general population for very limited or practical use in day to day driving.

I think most of the wings that have been posted in this thread are ugly as balls and you would NEVER catch me with one on my car.

That being said, it's not my car, and I have had some people comment that having my Z murdered out makes me ghetto and poser, so to each their own.

I do think the wings are a little over the top unless you are tracking your car. If you are tracking your car then I can respect anytihng that improves performance.

Looks the same to me.

SPOHN 08-04-2011 10:34 AM

Everything on are cars are race inspired. Wings just happen to be in your face.

I'll tell you what's really bad is when I'm cruising at 45mph and see a car thats FI. That's rice. Actually that's sarcasm. Sorry.

I find it funny that you are complaining about other people's cars with arguments that are ridiculous... If you understood aerodynamics you would understand why a larger wing in clean air would be more beneficial at lower speeds along with the fact that us guys with big wings have adjustable wings... In other words when im on the street I can set the wing to 0degrees of AoA. And at the track set it to 10-15degrees of AoA... Sooo what a family can eat a whole buffet off my wing. It's my car and I have a need for the wing. Now the varis setup cracks me up with the wing on a wing... I only see Hispanics do that here in GA but with fiberglass wings... It cracks me up cause they do it on trucks and fwd cars. I once saw a fiberglass spoiler on backwards on a guys truck hood! I was like wtf!!!!

Anyways, Tongman if you have a problem with it don't do it to your car.

bullitt5897 08-05-2011 11:08 AM
