Yes, please, no armorall. That's blasphemy :stirthepot: That's like wearing sandals to a wedding, and you're in the wedding party.

Yup, it worked just fine...and I dunno about kenchan's burly manliness, but I was able to remove the sucker by hand in short fashion!

Ok, first initial impressions:

The TI knob is a bit thinner than I might like. I find that I am a palm shifter mote often than not. We'll have to see how it goes after a few days. Did you all have any initial misgivings about the slenderness of the shifter?

Also, MAN THIS BUGGER GETS HOT!:icon17:
I went inside to get a bit of lunch today and came out an hour later to a truly searing experience! It's ok, I was expecting it...just not so soon!

It might just be my karate background. You know, all Asians know kongfu and karate and jujitsu and taekwon dont. They're all the same. :icon17:

As for the slim design it felt alittle different at first but I got use to it and like it.
yah metal knobs can get hot. Its funny how my metal twm knob on my G doesn't get nearly as hot in the sun. It might be due to its matte finish...

Yah, I love cracking on "the orientals" with my wife. It always gets a laugh or two out of her...and she feels exceptionally bad for laughing because she's 100% Chinese! :)

Happy.... yeah if you're a palm shifter, might take some getting used to. As for me, that's what I wanted, since I can grip it like a joystick. I couldn't do that with the big burly stock knob. I love my Ti shifter.... :D

As for the heat during summer... VERY easy fix bro.... I always have a quality microfiber towel or two in the car for interior dusting, and for bird crap. So, after parking, I just cover the knob with the towel. Voila.

I also use it to cover my detector so no one can see it in the car....

Thanks for the DIY, I'm going to be attempting this in an hour. Wish me luck!

Titanium Nismo with the proper letter O.

kenchan 07-14-2011 03:36 PM

it's been over an hour.... you still trying to get the stock one off? :icon17:

Holy crap ,that install was a PAIN IN THE ***! I also couldn't find the rubber tips for the robogrip, so now I have a giant bite mark on the shaft! (that sounds so wrong!)

I ended up needing an extra set of hands because the strap wrench was putting up a fight with me. I tried doing it without the strap wrench and almost broke my damn wrist lol.

I made a big screw up, the robogrip grabbed some of the boot so now I have a tiny hole on my boot :( Now I am going to see this every day and get annoyed until I end up buying a new custom boot. Arg! I guess the only fix would be for me to stitch it really quick but I don't want to!

Post install, knob feels great, it is very narrow. I could end up with carpal tunnel from shifting now! Throws feel much nicer and cleaner, a quick shift kit would make this perfect!

kenchan 07-15-2011 10:16 AM

lol at removing stock knob :D, but sorry to hear your tool ate your boot. :(

you can get a factory replacement from here:

UPDATE: So I finally got to drive her around all week and weekend. Was trying to get a good feel of the shift knob. I must say, it gives the car a totally different feel. Throws seem shorter and crisper, therefore sportier. I love the joystick grip. The knob also looks so great in the interior.

On a side note, the shift patterns on the top of the knob (the one you adhere) are laser etched/engraved, correct? In other words, I won't have to worry about my thumb wearing out the pattern over time?

I totally agree with you.....shorter throw and better/crisper shifting. I had my dealer install it today...Looks good too!

Glad it worked out for u Mike. Did the dealer return the stock knob to u unscathed?

It's been about 2000 miles for me already, I love my titanium nismo knob. Absolutely love it over stock.

Mods, why is this thread of mine not a stickie yet? Hehe

Unfortunately the Dealer used metal pliers to remove the stock knob, but the damage wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I leased my Z. I guess I'll worry about it when I turn the car in. Next up is replacing the HU with the JVC 7" touch screen!

Whats the diffrance between the. Nismo open ? And closed ? Shift knob??

happytheman 06-07-2013 05:24 PM

The open O is like so:

Otherwise, the O is solid.

Team_Kengai 06-07-2013 10:06 PM

Hmm I see ..sry for the noob question but what part of the knob is this from :-( ?.. I just want to make sure I understand what it is before I buy the titanium nismo knob..
