Default Heated Seats

Hi All, can you help me out with your experiences, please? I just purchased an 09 Z Touring with the Sport option and wanted to know your thoughts on the heated seats. I live in Iowa and it has been cold here (of course) and the seats warm up at first but after the car interior warms up, the seats seem like they just barely stay warm. Is this normal for our cars? I have a 2002 Durango that will fry your butt if you leave it on high too long.
I don't want waste my time at the dealership if this is how our cars operate.
Thanks for any input you have.

i believe the seats have a thermostat that does not allow your but to fry. i believe this is to keep the leather from cracking/fading. Mine does the same thing so I would not worry.

It an interesting question. Just yesterday I heard on the radio a piece talking about heated seats injuring folks. The reporter was discussing how many cars from various makers over the years have actually had people get burned by the seats. It turns out that some car manufacturers have the thermostats heating seats to 120 degrees!! But most are less. I'm not sure what the Z is set to.

They are made to be warm, not hot. I don't know about the 370, but I know in the 350 that I had, the seats would automatically turn off after awhile. They are meant to take away the shock of cold seats on a cold day, not heat your butt.

Mine only gets warm, and once the ambient air is warm, they seem to turn down in intensity.

Mine seem to get too hot on the high setting after a while, but they stay warm on the low setting even after the car is warm.

I can hear the fan goes very high at first, but after driving for a while, it starts to adjust accordingly....

On this car, the seats seem to stay nice and comfortable on low even if you leave them on the whole time. In my old Saab, on really cold days I'd hit them initially on high but had to knock it back to low pretty quickly and then I'd have to shut them off entirely once the car got warm.

Thank you for the replies. It does seem the Low setting stays somewhat warm after the interior warms up. The High setting cools down after the interior is warm, even to the point it feels like it shut off. My wife likes to use the Heated seats to keep her warm since I like the inside of the car cooler than she prefers. That is why she noticed it right away when we were driving home to Iowa from Wisconsin where we picked the Z up at.
Minor inconvenience for such a beautiful and well designed vehicle. We both LOVE this car!!!

LOL say no more. My ex girlfriend was a big fan of the heated seats and dual-zone climate control on my Saab. She would put the seat warmers on high and just leave them there and then turn her side of the car up to full heat. Man did that suck driving her around!

Yeah I like this feature. I rode in a friend's C6 Z06 and I'm not sure what was worse, him driving stick for the very first time or the heated seats making my butt sweat.

My wife loves the heated seat as well especially when I drop the top. It is such a fantastic feature when having both the wind in your face/hair while your back and rear are nice and toasty However, I could not make out which level on the dail knob is low and which is high (Heat feels the same to me). I just turned the damn thing on b/w high and low, and just enjoy my ride

My commute is quite long and I've noticed that the seats will heat up, shut off, then intermittently turn on and off to maintain temp.
