What about the console and cubby hole? Or are you going all out on your interior, in which case I can't possibly wait to see it. :)

cubby hole, console, knee pads, gear surround, arm rest and door panels in Alcantara, rest in leather and CF:tiphat:

I really only did about 18 inches of stitching on the passenger seat when I made the decision to switch. Honestly I think I got lucky that it covered the red. It wouldve looked like crap if it didn't.

If you want the maroon color then use the red fabric dye marker and not the acrylic paint pen.

So you think it would look red using the Painters Marker, which is acrylic paint, right..??

I'm actually going for the red look.. I don't want maroon..

Also, did you use the fine tip or the medium tip..??

Yes, the Painters marker should give you a nice red color.
I used the medium tip but now that I think about it, the fine tip might be less messy.

I tried the fine tip on 2 threads on the back of the cloth seat to see if it would be possible. I think it would be possible if there were an "extra fine" tip but even with the fine tip it is still to wide and impossible not to get on the black cloth.

If anyone comes across an extra fine tipped marker let me know.

I live in Panama, Central America, so no Walmart for me. I went to MarkerSupply.com and found a nice variety of Elmer's Painters Markers.

There's supposed to be an Ultra Fine tip but the have it available ON SALE and only in blue. Can't find any other ultra fine tips on the site.

They do have the Fine and Medium tips in several colors...

I called Elmer's and they told me that they dont sell a red ultra fine. So i guess im outta luck unless i can find another brand.

*i just found Deco color makes an ultra fine in red and it sells on the website markersupply.com I'm going to get a couple and try them out.

This is super easy and makes a HUGE difference.

The blue looks excellent! I was going to do mine Wednesday night but thanks to the snow storm we got here in DC area i was happily stuck in traffic for 6 hrs (usually takes 45 min) on the beltway. So... maybe tonight ill go buy it and get going... but its snowing again.... :shakes head:

i wonder how the long term durability is gonna be? You'd think the driver seat area on the left would wear off real fast from getting in and out so often. And then there is fading from the sun as well.... well its not like it cant be reapplied!

True. Some of the Camaro guys say it'll last for months. Not sure about the acrylic though as some of them are using the dye. Like you said, it can be easily reapplied if it does fade down the road.

anyone else try this and have pics?

also, anyone have a direct link to a red ultra fine marker?

ThoriumHotdog 02-02-2011 05:14 AM

Anyone else give this a try over the weekend?

Falcor 02-02-2011 07:39 AM

I already tried with the decocolor extra fin tip pens i ordered, It worked great on my cloth seats...except, the color was way wrong. not even close to the red shown it was pink like very pink. I have ordered some sharpee brand extra fine red acrylic pens to see if those will work to go over the pink.

CATCHINZZZS 02-02-2011 07:54 AM

Gonna try myself on these snowy days. looks good gonna go with red just dont know what brand. And my seats are fabric.. But some recomended fabric paint not the Acrylic...
