How did you guys tap the power line to parking light wire??

I was thinking about soldering or using those butt connector. Looks hard to do because of the lack amount of room behind the headlights. Or is there somewhere else where you can tap into the parking light wire.

Thanks

The easiest place to tap into is definitely the parking light wire, however you are right about the tight fit. I cut a very small section of the wire sheath off and used a crimp connector to splice into it. Another good choice would be a quick splice connector as that will be the easiest of all and are found at local auto stores/radioshacks: Quick Splice Connector with Male Disconnector (3-Pack) - RadioShack.com

I like the JDM's on my Z.
Sure, brightness is not the best during the daytime, but they:
  • fit in the gap under the headlight
  • wrap all the way along the bottom of the headlight

I ordered my JDMs this weekend. They're supposed to be here on Thursday. I'm excited to see how they look. I shouldn't be disappointed knowing they aren't the best for DRL.

those quick splice are really bad. where they splice in, they cut up some of the strands, reducing the effective wire gauge where the splice is... which is compound bad since you are adding a new circuit off it. they work fine for some stuff, but dont ever use them for anything serious! and if the circuit ever goes dead, they should be the first place you look for troubleshooting.

I was just told by a supplier that the Greddy led kit for the 370z was discontinued due to manufacturing defects, a revision is due some time in the near future.

I tried installing my JDM LED strips this weekend. However, when I had them fastened underneath the headlights, I couldn't get the bumper back on. I went with THESE lights instead of the ones that you can cut because I didn't like the way that it looked to be grouped in threes. Did anyone using this have this issue? It didn't feel right to just jam the bumper back on. They're all wired up to the parking lamp and look so smooth. I just think that they're too exposed being out on top of the bumper. Any thoughts or suggestions?

do you guys recommend tapping into the green parking light wire or running it into the cabin and wiring it to a 12v fuse to trigger on ignition?

I ordered the ijdmtoy led strip and want the effect of DRL's so on when my car turns on.

christian370z 02-03-2011 11:10 PM

I would tap into the green; it will turn the DRL on as soon as you turn the headlights on as well as the parking light settings and is much easier to wire.

antivirus6613 02-03-2011 11:33 PM

I already have wires running in the grommet to the cabin so I might as well run these through if the green wire isnt on with ignition. If i always have my headlights on auto and i tapped into the green when would the drl turn on?

this is how it look for the Greddy DRL...
