OK so I just tried installing the ijdmtoy Audi A5 R8 Style LED Strip Lights last night... Either both LED strips are bad (doubtful) or I suck (probably true.)

So I tapped into the green parking light like most people on the forum said to do. I did this by pulling out the parking light bulb, removing the electrical tape to expose the green wire, then I stripped the green wire a little and then I wrapped the (red looking) wire from the LED strip to the exposed green wire and then I wrapped the dark (grayish) looking wire to a ground or bolt. I turned on the lights and nothing!

I'm confused about the two wires. Are they both for power? Is one for ground and the other for power? Which wire is which based on color?!

Please help! lol it's driving me nuts. :)

All credit goes to all those here on the Forum before me...

But if I recall correctly, I used a simple 9v battery to test the leads prior to installation to correctly mark which was POS & NEG. You've probably just got them switched around.

Also, the LED parking lights will install 2 different ways, but they also have only one correct fitment. If they don't light, then rotate the bulb 180* and re-install.

Oh....btw...here is a link to my thread with all the part numbers and vendors to purchase ALL of your LED needs.

Thanks guys I'll try it again tonight.... Maybe I had the wires switched around.

Colbizle 02-22-2012 09:28 AM

For anyone else that has this issue.. Looks like I had the wires switched around... I should have tested the lights on a 9v battery in the first place!!

Turns out the reddish looking wire is actual the neg and the darker grayish looking wire is the pos...

I then tapped the green parking light with the pos and mounted the neg to a near by bolt for ground.

Will post pics later. Thanks everyone!

Quickie install just slid under headlamp and wire it to a 9v, just to see the look.

This is the ijdm product in blue leds. Its funny but the groupings of three isn't as visible outside but really can be seen in the pic.

They look like the Xenon white, what sku # is on the package?. Looks good  Are you considering replacing the other bulbs on the car with LED's?

They are the Blue lights. It is so hard to tell, lighting just doesnt display well in pics.

I probably will slowly, I would love to change all the orange inside to blue but that is kinda outta my league (not a big electrical guy).

ZForce 03-05-2012 09:04 PM

I will have to check my invoice, thought I ordered the white.

Me neither, but think the orange dash lights and pods would look good in blue, that is for the silver cars.

ugh, I took my LED string to work (I work at a car battery manufacturer) to see if the 12V would brighten it up more and I managed to snap one of the wires. grrrrrr.....:shakes head:

BTW it did look brighter.

Noice, would like to see a pic once you get it replaced. At 17.00 I purchased 2 backups.

DufDaddy 03-07-2012 12:07 PM

A guy at work is gonna lend me a soldering kit, so hopefully I can fix it. I really hope it works I can't wait to get these things on the car.

I reattached wiring harness and turn on the parking light and I get nothing out of the LED. The parking light works fine. Anyone have a guess?
