Does it not open from the outside or inside?

Are you able to open it from the inside or outside?

Lol no. It won't open from either side. But the handle and door lock moves freely like it did when it was new.

Maybe they forgot to attach the mechanism that actually opens the door latch. The outside and inside handles wont work unless they actually release the latch in the door frame....I think.

So I'm wondering what thier plan is to open the door to get to the mechanism when I take it back up there. I really don't want them climbing all over the driver seat and center console to get to the door.

Until you can get back to the shop you can press and hold the unlock button on your remote and both windows should roll-down. You can reach into the car and open the door via the inside door handle. I do not know whether this sets off the alarm, but give it a try.

Good info.

So for some reason the door is now opening from the inside but looks like the new handle is just not hooked up.

DIY Removal of Door Handles

According to this, there are 2 wires hooked to the handle. One for the keyless entry and one to open the door. Hopefully the door one is not connected bc the keyless entry works.

I modded my driver interior door handle. If the guy forgot to connect the wire back, you're screwed because the door panel has to be removed in order to fix it. The door needs to be open to remove the door panel.

I can open the door from the inside. Removing the door panel isn't a big deal. Why am I screwed? Why wouldn't the wire be just sitting there not connected?

Oh... Wait a second. I thought you said it doesn't open from the outside or inside. Nevermind then.

It's the outer handle that's not working.

Well I would definitely take it back to the body shop and make them fix it.
