Steering Wheel Protection?

Hey guys, I've managed to keep my steering wheel in pretty much perfect shape up until this point. However, I'm always nervous that I'm going to damage it. Can anyone reccommend a means of protection for the wheel. I had one of those generic steering wheel covers on hand from a previous vehicle, but it refused to fit.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

All you need is some leather cleaner and conditioner. Covers are tacky.

but if u really want a cover? the only one i can only think of... is wheel skins? its like fifty bucks i think

But yeah -- a good leather cleaner/protectant (NOT ARMORALL) helps to keep the leather clean and in good shape.

If you want you can buy a wheel-skins cover like simota suggested. They are full leather and come in a variety of patterns and are actually very nice.

whats bad about armorall on leather? i just use it on plastic, but i'm just curious

Armor All is just greasy crap. It doesn't protect and can lead to cracking of plastic/vinyl/leather.

armorall is crap! for leather i use Griot's LeatherCare Spray and their LeatherCare cream. the spray is especially a great tool to have, just spray into a MF applicator/utility towel and wipe your steering wheel clean. for plastic surfaces i use Prima Nero (available at amazon) or recommend Aerospace303. but Nero is more matte.

Good advice! I use Poorboy's leather cleaner/conditioner.

awesome, thanks guys. i will pick up some of that stuff before i do my next detail. I don't really have a problem with my interior on a regular basis, as i keep it very clean by not allowing anything other than a bottle of water in my car.

hey jeff- if you use Prima Nero BEFORE you have scuffs it will prevent new scuffs from forming. it's like a slick protective layer yet it's not glossy or ikky like armorall.

but as far as steering wheel covers are concerned, seems like just keeping it clean is the best bet. i mean, unless of course this is your couch:
