It depends on what you want to do with your car, you have many options.
~Track/Auto-X events: Upgrades would include oil cooler, brakes, etc.
~Style: Upgrades include wheels, exterior, etc.
~Power: Upgrades include exhaust, intake, forced induction, etc.

I would spend sometime in the Member's gallery and see what some people have done, we have seen everything from full race builds to show cars and in between. I would start out by thinking of what you want to enjoy more about your car or what you may not enjoy and wish to change and look into that first.
